Logan View/Scribner-Snyder looking for bounce back year in C-1
Team: Logan View/Scribner-Snyder
Mascot: Raiders
Colors: Blue and Gold
Class: C-1
Head Coach: Dustin Sealey (4th season) (11-17 record)
2018 record: 1-8
Returning Starters: N/A
Overview:
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder looks to bounce back from last year's 1-8 season. Head Coach Dustin Sealey says he's excited about his quarterback this year.
I'm excited to see what Riley Hoetfelker, our Quarterback, will be able to do. Started last year as a sophomore, and he's grown physically and emotionally I think."
Sealey says a lot of his returning starters are three-year starters.
He adds there are only two kids from Scribner-Snyder on the team this year.
The Raiders lost 10 players from last year in Austin Peters, Clay Kruger, Brady Hull, Sebastian Arnold, Bailey Licht, James Hudson, Eric French, Nathan Wacker, Lucas Schneck, and Micheal Luther.
I feel Hull, Arnold, Kruger, and Peters were the biggest losses.
LVSS figures to be more experienced this year though, and I think that will help the Raiders out a lot.
I feel LVSS will be strong up front and will have good skill guys as well with almost everyone back.
I feel having the majority of the team back will pay big dividends for the Raiders, especially when going up against the tougher teams on their schedule.
LVSS has to grow and improve each and every week, and continue to get better as the season progresses.
The Raiders have to keep a level head and remain humble and be willing to work hard.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to be physical, and play in your face, smashmouth football.
The Raiders have to be very aggressive, but smart in games.
A lot of games could come down to a few plays or a mistake or a smart play, and I think limiting penalties and not doing anything that could cost the team games such as a silly personal foul or something is important for LVSS to take to heart.
Speaking of heart, the Raiders have to play with tons of heart this season, and do everything their power to win each and every week.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to also enjoy the ride and respect the game and enjoy their days of playing high school football.
Season Outlook:
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder opens up the season on August 30th at home against Fremont Bergan. Sealey says it's important for his kids to play well in that one.
"Bergan's a big game for us. We like playing them. It's been fun the last 3 or 4 years that I've been there. Like I said it's the first game...once you get one under your belt it kind of sets the tone for the rest of the season."
The Knights won last year's game in Fremont, 36-26.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder lost a lot of close games last year, and I feel those close losses have a chance to turn into wins this season.
The Raiders were adjusting to a new class with a Coop and now they know what to expect this year.
LVSS gets Boone Central/Newman Grove, Columbus Scotus, and Pierce all at home this year so that should make a huge difference.
I'm not saying the Raiders are going to go undefeated and win the District Title, but I feel Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a chance to make the playoffs this year.
I think the future, and the next couple of years in particular, are very bright for LVSS Football.
I feel last year was just a minor bump in the road, and look for the Raiders to get back to their winning ways this season.
I look for all the offseason workouts, weightlifting, and conditioning to payoff for LVSS this year.
I feel the Raiders will have a mighty fine season, and do a lot of winning and have a lot of success this year.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play up to their potential, and execute in all facets of the game week in and week out.
The Raiders have to come through in the clutch, and make big plays when it matters most.
LVSS has to play error and mistake free football as much as possible.
The Raiders also need to wrap up and tackle well throughout the course of the season to be successful, in my opinion.
2019 can be a good year for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder if all these things happen.
