Wisner-Pilger blanked by Crofton in opening game of season

The Wisner-Pilger Football team lost 21-0 at home to Crofton Friday night.

It no doubt had to be a tough way for the Gators to start the season, but I thought Wisner-Pilger competed pretty well considering the Warriors are the defending Class C-2 State Runner-Up.

The Gators (0-1) face Stanton (0-1) on the road Friday night.

The Mustangs lost 33-13 at home to Elmwood-Murdock Friday night.

Stanton allowed 306 yards rushing and only had 86 yards rushing themselves.

I think Wisner-Pilger has a shot in this one if they can run the ball and stop the run.

Only giving up 21 points to Crofton is pretty good, but the Gators have to get the offense going.

You'll never win a game laying a goose egg, and that's simply something Wisner-Pilger can't afford to do again.

This is a rivalry game though, and anything can happen. You can bet both teams will come out ready to play hard, smashmouth football, and will no doubt turn in great performances.

There's a lot on the line in this game in terms of pride. Both squads got off to tough starts, and a second loss in as many weeks will no doubt be demoralizing to whoever doesn't win.

This is a must win for both teams really, and the Gators have to want it more than the Mustangs.

Stanton has had Wisner-Pilger's number lately so perhaps the Gators will get the Mustangs this year.

Keegan Ruskamp, Jayden Raabe, and others must have big games for Wisner-Pilger to be successful.

The Gators have to play physical, smashmouth, take it to you type football, and not back down from Stanton whatsoever.

This is Wisner-Pilger's chance to really do something. The game is at Stanton, but it would be a huge deal for the Gators to go into the Mustangs' house and come away with a victory.

Much easier said than done, but Wisner-Pilger has to simply believe, and go in to Stanton and play with confidence.

The Gators have to play to win, and find a way to get their offense going.

Wisner-Pilger isn't going to win if they don't score...simply put. But if the Gators can get their offense going then look out.

The potential and opportunity to win is there for Wisner Pilger...the Gators have to simply go out there and get the job done and make things happen.

This might be Wisner-Pilger's best shot at beating the Mustangs in quite some time.
