Stanton loses at Battle Creek

The Stanton Mustangs lost a 19-6 decision at Battle Creek Friday night.

It wasn't a bad loss at all for Stanton as the Braves are a very good team, having made the state semifinals a season ago.

I really feel like the Mustangs played a good game. I feel like Stanton is still in a good position to succeed this season even though they fell to Battle Creek.

The Mustangs (0-1) are at Logan View (1-0) Friday night.

The Raiders defeated Palmyra 20-19 in their opener on the road Friday night.

Logan View is a quality, experienced team and Stanton will have their hands full.

The Mustangs have to play at a very high level offensively and defensively if they want to win.

Stanton has to forget about the Battle Creek game, and get ready for the Raiders.

This is a very winnable game for the Mustangs. Stanton has all the ability in the world to win this game, and should.

I look for the Mustangs to improve offensively from Week 0 to Week 1. I definitely feel like Stanton is a much better team offensively than what they showed against Battle Creek.

The Mustangs' defense kept the Braves' offense under control, and that's what Stanton's D has to do against Logan View.

The Mustangs can't let the Raiders explode offensively.

This has to be a bounce back week for Stanton. The Mustangs have to take it to Logan View from start to finish. Stanton has to make a statement in this game.

It's time for the Mustangs to get back on track, and they certainly have a chance to do that against the Raiders.

As long as Stanton puts together four good quarters of football they should be able to come away with a victory.

North Bend Central falls at Pierce

The North Bend Central Tigers had a tough go of things Friday night, falling 58-20 at Pierce.

North Bend Central scored all their points in the second half as Dawson Poessnecker hauled in a 15-yard TD pass from Jake Cleveringa in the third quarter.

Poessnecker added another touchdown in the fourth quarter, scampering 83 yards to the house. The final touchdown of the game was scored by North Bend Central's Brandon Wardman, who ran one in from 17 yards out.

There weren't a lot of bright spots for the Tigers Friday night, but I think North Bend Central can build on what they did at the end of the game.

The 20 points the Tigers scored in the second half is a testament to them not quitting.

North Bend Central never gave up. The Tigers kept fighting no matter what, and found pay dirt three times at the end of the game.

North Bend Central (0-1) hosts West Point-Beemer (1-0) Friday night.

The Cadets defeated Fort Calhoun 22-19 in their season opener Friday night, and appear to be a team to be reckoned with this season.

The Tigers are going to have to play at a high level offensively and defensively if they want to beat West Point-Beemer.

North Bend Central has to get off to a fast start, and must play four quarters of football.

The Tigers were taken out of the game early against the Bluejays, and didn't give themselves much of a chance to win.

North Bend Central was down 30-0 at the end of the first quarter, and it's hard to win games when having a quarter like that.

The Tigers have to contain Cadets' quarterback Tate Toelle. He did a good amount of damage against the Pioneers, and is no doubt one of the leaders for West Point-Beemer.

North Bend Central has to know where he's at on the field at all times. The Tigers can't let him get loose and hurt them.

Toelle can hurt teams with his arm and his legs so it's important for North Bend Central to wrap up when they have the chance.

The Tigers have to forget about the Pierce game, and refocus themselves for this game against West Point-Beemer.

North Bend Central has to get jacked and fired up for this game. The Tigers have to bring it for four quarters to give themselves a chance to win.

Oakland-Craig wins at Fremont Bergan

The Oakland-Craig Knights picked up a huge win at Fremont Bergan Friday night, winning 22-6.

Oakland-Craig was shutout in the first half as Fremont Bergan led 6-0 at the break. Head Coach Joe Anderson says his team had their chances early on. "I felt like for the most part we had a lot of opportunities that first half. You know, and first play of the game we had a guy run a wide open play 40 yards, you know and just were a little pumped up to start the game, and 3, 4 times we just overshot wide open guys whether it be with the protection or the throw or not a crisp route. But get out of the goal line on short yardage, and they make a great play and goal line stand, so it felt like man there was 21, 28 points left out there. So we thought if we'd just not panic, stay with our game, that we'd have a good chance to win."

Oakland-Craig got the job done in the second half, particularly the fourth quarter, as they scored 20 of their 22 points in the final 12 minutes of play.

Senior quarterback Cole Mitchell was 6-22 passing for 95 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Hos Smith was the team's leading rusher with 20 carries for 67 yards. Cody Mace ran for 41 yards on 8 carries while Mitchell rushed for 37 yards on 18 attempts, and scored two touchdowns.

Garrett Seagren led Oakland-Craig in receiving with 3 catches for 52 yards. Cody Mace had 2 catches for 34 yards.

Smith led the way defensively with 12 tackles. Conner Thiele totaled 7.

Oakland-Craig had 240 yards of total offense, including 145 rushing. The defense gave up 142 yards of total offense, 120 coming on the ground.

This was an absolutely huge win for Oakland-Craig. They stepped up their level of play in the second half and in the fourth quarter, and made the plays necessary to win. Oakland-Craig came through in the clutch, and you couldn't ask for a better result to start the season if you are them.

Oakland-Craig (1-0) has another tough game Friday night as the Knights take on Battle Creek (1-0) at home.

The Braves defeated Stanton 19-6 in their season opener, and appear to be a very strong team again.

Oakland-Craig is going to have to play a complete, four quarter game if they want to win.

That's not to say Oakland-Craig didn't play a four quarter game against Fremont Bergan, because they certainly played well throughout the game, but Oakland-Craig has to step up their game if they want to beat Battle Creek.

The Knights have to capitalize on all opportunities given to them. Oakland-Craig can't turn the ball over like they did in the first half against Fremont Bergan, and must score whenever they have a chance.

The Knights have to win the turnover battle, and must be very tough physically and mentally.

The Braves are a very good team, but so is Oakland-Craig.

We will definitely find out what the Knights are made of come Friday night.

I think Oakland-Craig has a chance to win, but it's going to be tough. The Knights definitely have their work cut out for them.

I expect things to be tight Friday night. The game could come down to who makes more big plays, and who avoids the costly turnover.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game comes down to the final drive. I really think these teams are evenly matched.

Scribner-Snyder rolls Omaha Christian Academy

The Scribner-Snyder Trojans started off the season in successful fashion Friday night, beating Omaha Christian Academy 80-42 at home.

The game was tied at 16 at the end of one, but Scribner-Snyder exploded for 34 second quarter points and held the Eagles to 6 points to go up 50-22 at the break.

The Trojans won the third quarter 14-6 to lead 64-28 at the end of three.

Scribner-Snyder put up 16 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for Omaha Christian Academy.

The Trojans had three rushers go over 100 yards. Michael Broussard ran for 161 yards on 13 carries, and scored four touchdowns, Gunner Palmer ran the ball for 110 yards on 9 carries, and scored four touchdowns, and Darnell Sims ran for 104 yards on 9 attempts, and scored once.

Broussard led the way defensively with 21 tackles. Sims made 10 while Kaleb Fischer and Austin Lampkin recorded 8 and 7, respectively.

Scribner-Snyder racked up 461 yards of total offense, all coming on the ground. The defense surrendered 368 yards of total offense, including 229 on the ground.

It was a good start to the season for Scribner-Snyder. For having a lot of new guys starting for the first time, it appears the Trojans figured out things pretty quickly.

80 points will win you a lot of games. Scribner-Snyder is off to a very good start on the offensive side of the ball.

There is no doubt some room for improvement defensively, but the Trojans are off to the kind of start they were hoping for, and appear to be strong heading into their second game of the season.

Scribner-Snyder (1-0) battles Mead (0-0) on the road Friday night.

The Raiders were just 1-7 a season ago.

This is a game the Trojans should win as long as they are focused and ready to play.

The going will definitely be tougher than the opener in a way with this game being on the road. Scribner-Snyder will have to find a way to win outside the friendly confines of Scribner.

I look for the Trojans to do well. This is the type of game where Scribner-Snyder can do their thing offensively, and work on some things defensively.

I suspect the Trojans will play smashmouth football, and run the ball at will against Mead.

I look for the big boys up front to do their job, and for the running backs and quarterback to excel in the run game.

Anytime you have three players rush for over 100 yards in the same game, you are doing something right.

And certainly Scribner-Snyder is clicking on all cylinders right now.

I think the Trojans will keep things rolling Friday night. I look for Scribner-Snyder to win big.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Trojans put up around 80 points again.

While Scribner-Snyder had a big second quarter against the Eagles, the Trojans also played a complete game.

I look for Scribner-Snyder to play four quarters of football again and roll to victory for the second time this season.

West Point-Beemer edges Fort Calhoun

The West Point-Beemer Cadets started the season off strong with a 22-19 home win over Fort Calhoun Friday night.

After neither team scored in the first quarter, the Pioneers notched 12 second quarter points and held West Point-Beemer to 7 to go up 12-7 at the break.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, and Fort Calhoun led 19-14 at the end of the third.

The Cadets got the job done in the fourth quarter, totaling eight points while holding the Pioneers scoreless.

Tate Toelle led West Point-Beemer through the air and on the ground. The senior quarterback rushed for 86 yards on 16 carries, and was 4-8 passing for 67 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Ben Jahnke was the team's leading receiver as he hauled in a 42-yard touchdown pass for his lone catch of the game.

Hunter Pilakowski led the way defensively with 7 tackles.

West Point-Beemer had 306 yards of total offense, including 239 on the ground. The defense gave up 285 yards, including 200 through the air.

The Cadets really stepped up and performed well against Fort Calhoun, who reached the playoffs a season ago. This was a big win for West Point-Beemer, and puts them on the right track to start the season.

The Cadets (1-0) take on North Bend Central (0-1) on the road Friday night.

The Tigers lost 58-20 at Pierce in their opener.

North Bend Central showed signs of life on offense, an area they really struggled in last year.

The Tigers' defense may be a weakness, but their offense appears to be better than it was last season.

West Point-Beemer has to be wary of that, and has to be ready to play.

North Bend Central is a team the Cadets should beat, but if West Point-Beemer takes the Tigers lightly, and isn't ready to play, North Bend Central could challenge them.

Toelle has to have another big game for the Cadets. West Point-Beemer needs him to lead by example, and take charge on the field, just like he did in the win over Fort Calhoun.

The Cadets' defense needs to keep up the success they had last week when they held the Pioneers scoreless in two quarters.

You would like to see a little more defensive consistency if you are West Point-Beemer, but overall the Cadets are playing at a pretty high level right now.

The offense has to get things going early and often for West Point-Beemer to defeat the Tigers.

If the Cadets play up to their potential I don't see North Bend Central beating them. But if West Point-Beemer comes out sluggish and struggles, the Tigers could make a game of it.

The biggest thing for the Cadets is to be focused. As long as West Point-Beemer is ready to play, they should be able to take care of business.

Friday's kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast looking for improvement in 2015

Team: Lyons-Decatur Northeast

Mascot: Cougars

Colors: Maroon, Gold, and White

Class: D-2

Head Coach: Dan Maresh (6th season)

2014 record: 2-6

Returning Starters: 5 offense 5 defense

Overview:

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars have to like their chances of being an improved team in 2015 given who they have coming back and playing this season.

Junior Montana Riecken (5'7, 135) is expected to take the reins at quarterback while senior Marcus Hegy (5'10, 185) will be the team's starting running back. Riecken rushed for 227 yards and hauled in 10 passes for 223 yards last season.

Junior John Christiansen (6'0, 165) returns at wide receiver after bringing in 10 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns a season ago. Christiansen also figures to see some time in the offensive backfield as he ran for 353 yards last year.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast also returns junior Jacob Whitaker (5'7, 120) at wideout and senior Jayden Vetick (5'10, 150) at tight end. Whitaker had 7 catches last season, and Vetick had 8 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown.

The offensive line will be made up of juniors Tyler Hardeman (5'10, 195), Brent Shatto (5'7, 145), and Cole Christoffersen (6'3, 230).

Riecken (43 tackles), Christiansen (32 tackles), and Whitaker will make up the secondary while Shatto (30 tackles) and Hegy will patrol things at linebacker.

The defensive line will be led by Hardeman (67 tackles, 2 sacks), Vetick (43 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 FR), and Christoffersen (21 tackles).

The Cougars are still a fairly young team even though they bring back quite a bit. Lyons-Decatur Northeast is junior laden though so expect these juniors to step up and play well as they are now upperclassmen.

I think the Cougars have a chance to surprise a few people this year, turn some heads, and make the playoffs.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast appears to be solid at all positions, and that should be to their benefit this season.

The Cougars aren't the biggest team so they will have to rely on skill, speed and technique. Lyons-Decatur Northeast is going to have to outwork their opponents to win games this season.

The Cougars can't afford to turn the ball over a whole lot this season. There's really not a whole lot of room for error with this team. Lyons-Decatur Northeast definitely has to win the turnover battle every game.

I think a 3-5 or a 4-4 record is likely for the Cougars this season.

Season Outlook:

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars must work on becoming a more consistent football team if they want to win games this year.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast played well in their two wins last year, but didn't play as well against teams like Winside and Osmond.

No offense to either of those teams, but the Cougars should have done better than they did in those games.

Of course you can't dwell on the past so all Lyons-Decatur Northeast can do now is focus on the present.

The Cougars have difficult games with Humphrey St. Francis, Bancroft-Rosalie, Emerson-Hubbard, and Wynot.

You definitely can't count out Lyons-Decatur Northeast in any of those games as the Cougars knocked off the Panthers last year, but none of those games will be easy.

Perhaps Lyons-Decatur Northeast can overachieve and go 5-3 or 6-2, but as I said above I think 3-5 or 4-4 is likely.

All of the Cougars' road opponents were .500 or better last year, and Humphrey St. Francis and Emerson-Hubbard each had winning records last season. The good news is Lyons-Decatur Northeast gets those two teams at home.

I look for the Cougars to be middle of the pack when it comes to District D2-1. Wynot and Bancroft-Rosalie are probably the favorites to win it, but again Lyons-Decatur Northeast could surprise me and others and win the district. They are definitely capable of doing it, and can beat any of the teams in the district.

We saw what the Cougars are capable of when they beat Bancroft-Rosalie last year, but they really struggled after that win. For Lyons-Decatur Northeast, it's a matter of being consistent for an entire season. The season is about more than just one game. The Cougars have to bring the same effort week in and week out.

I look for Lyons-Decatur Northeast to be improved as last year's sophomores are now juniors. The Cougars' players have had a chance to grow as players and young men over the last year, and it should translate into more wins this season.

I definitely think you could see Lyons-Decatur Northeast in the playoffs in 2015.

Bancroft-Rosalie looks to continue winning tradition

Team: Bancroft-Rosalie

Mascot: Panthers

Colors: Dark Blue and Silver

Class: D-2

Head Coach: Kyle Elsasser (2nd season)

2014 record: 5-4 (lost to Randolph in first round of playoffs)

Returning Starters: 2 offense 2 defense

Overview:

The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers hope to continue their past success as they look to reach the postseason for the 12th consecutive year.

Sophomore running back Jacob Zuhlke (5'9, 160), who rushed for 158 yards with one score last season, figures to be one of the focal points of Bancroft-Rosalie's offense this season. Senior Mario Aldrich (5'8, 160) is also expected to help shoulder some of the load.

Sophomore Trent Gatewood (5'8, 150) is favored to get the starting nod at quarterback. He will be throwing to all-district senior tight end Dayne Wortman (6'1, 200), who caught 13 passes for 217 yards and five touchdowns a season ago, and junior tight end Aaron Ras (6'1, 180).

The offensive line figures to be one of the strengths of this team as returning senior Austin Bruning (5'10, 190) and returning junior Jacob Cole (5'8, 220) look to lead up front. Junior Ethan Nelson (5'10, 170) and sophomore Kenyan Lovejoy (5'11, 180) are also expected to see playing time on the offensive line.

Defensively, the Panthers are led at linebacker by Zuhlke. Aldrich, Ras, and Gatewood will patrol the secondary while the defensive line will be anchored by Cole (46 tackles), Wortman (40 tackles), Bruning, Nelson, and Lovejoy.

The strength of this team should be its offensive and defensive lines. Bancroft Rosalie is young at quarterback and running back so it will be interesting to see how quickly those players develop. The two tight ends should help out quite a bit in the passing game.

There's not a lot of returning experience for this Panther squad, but look for Bancroft-Rosalie to still be good.

This program has built a winning tradition, and I look for this Panthers' team to live up to the expectations that have been founded by past teams.

Bancroft-Rosalie took care of business against most of the teams they were expected to beat last year, but slipped up in the regular season against Lyons-Decatur Northeast.

The Panthers have to commit themselves to hard work each week, and must be dedicated to playing the game the right way.

It's going to take a total team effort from Bancroft-Rosalie to win week in and week out. The Panthers are going to get teams' best shot every week.

Bancroft-Rosalie definitely appears to have the players and tools in place to be successful. I think it's just simply a matter of going out there and making it happen.

Look for the Panthers to be a strong playoff contender once again in 2015.

Season Outlook:

The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers have a chance to be good again this season.

Bancroft-Rosalie has tough games against Randolph and Wynot, but there's no reason to think this team can't go 6-2.

The Panthers will be challenged each week, but I look for Bancroft-Rosalie to meet each challenge.

The Panthers were an absolute juggernaut on offense last year, scoring 106 points in the regular season finale against Allen. The problem was the defense was inconsistent. Bancroft-Rosalie's defense definitely let them down in some games last year.

That's why it's important for the Panthers to become more consistent defensively. Defense is the key to winning games and championships. Bancroft-Rosalie can score all the points they want, but if they can't stop anybody they're going to struggle some.

The Panthers are more than capable of being consistent on defense, it's just a matter of going out there and making it happen.

Bancroft-Rosalie has a chance to be good this year, and it all starts with their defense.

The Panthers will have to be ready to go right away as they play Osceola and Randolph to open up the season.

Bancroft-Rosalie can't afford early mistakes or they could prove to be costly.

It may take some time for the Panthers to get everyone on the same page and everyone playing at an elite level, but it will come eventually.

I look for Bancroft-Rosalie to get better as the season progresses. I think you could see the Panthers playing their best football at the end of the season.

I look for Bancroft-Rosalie to make a strong push to win District D2-1. Wynot is probably favored to win the district, but if the Panthers can knock off the Blue Devils they could be district champs.

Bancroft-Rosalie should do enough to make the playoffs for a 12th straight season. I would be very surprised if the Panthers are left out of the postseason.

Winnebago hoping to be better in 2015

Team: Winnebago

Mascot: Indians

Colors: Blue and White

Class: D-1

Head Coach: Adam James (8th season)

2014 record: 1-7

Returning Starters: 3 offense 3 defense

Overview:

The Winnebago Indians hope to find success on the gridiron this year after giving it their all during last year's 1-7 campaign.

Winnebago was competitive at times last year, and must replace five starters on each side of the ball.

The Indians will feature juniors Drake Gorrin (6'0, 165) and Miguel Baker (5'11, 170) at the running back position while senior Kadge Thomas (5'11, 165) and junior Cedrick Blackdeer (6'0, 150) are competing for the starting quarterback spot.

Seniors Airic Brown (6'2, 260) and Vincent Bass (6'3, 250) return on the offensive line.

Brown and Bass will also play defensive line again this season for Winnebago while Gorrin is a returning starter in the secondary. Thomas and Blackdeer figure to provide Gorrin with help in the defensive backfield.

Baker is expected to see time at linebacker for the Indians.

I think Winnebago has a chance to be better this year than they were last year. The Indians don't return a whole lot, but the players they do return appear to be solid.

I look for Brown and Bass to dominate on the offensive line, setting up the run game for the running backs and quarterback.

The biggest question mark on offense for Winnebago could be wide receiver and tight end. What kind of passing game will the Indians have? That could go a long ways in determining what kind of success Winnebago has this season.

The Indians should be a solid ground team, but their passing game is a question mark for me. It's hard telling how successful Winnebago will be throwing the ball.

The Indians should be solid at stopping the run and pass. The linebacker position could be a question mark for Winnebago, but the front and back ends of their defense should help make up for what they may lack at the linebacker position.

I think the Indians have a chance to be 3-5 or perhaps 4-4 this season.

I definitely see Winnebago being a better team than they were a year ago.

The schedule certainly isn't the easiest, but there are some winnable games for the Indians.

Winnebago has to believe in themselves and in one another. Football isn't just physical, it's mental as well. The Indians have to play with a positive and winning attitude throughout the season. This school had success in boys basketball, winning the state championship last year, so success in football is certainly possible this season.

It would be a big deal for Winnebago to make the playoffs. The Indians are definitely capable of making the postseason, they just have to maximize their potential.

Winnebago has to be confident in their abilities this season. And if they are, anything is possible with this team.

Season Outlook:

Winnebago has to believe they have a chance at having a better season than they did a year ago.

Five of the Indians' first six games are very winnable as Winnebago takes on Cedar Bluffs, Wakefield, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, Pender, and Omaha Nation in five of their first six games.

It may be asking a lot from the Indians to beat Hartington-Newcastle, Guardian Angels Central Catholic, or Scribner-Snyder, but upsets can happen on any given day or night.

Winnebago has to play optimistic football this season. The Indians have to play with confidence and swagger.

Winnebago can't be cocky, but the Indians have to do whatever they can to try and gain a mental edge in games.

I'm not suggesting trash talking, but Winnebago has to be fired up at all times. The Indians have to get excited about big plays, and allow one big play to lead to another.

At the same time, Winnebago has to prevent big plays, and even if and when the Indians give up big plays, they can't dwell on them.

Winnebago has to let negative plays go, and move on to the next play.

The Indians have to simply learn how to win. The boys basketball team figured out a recipe for success last season, and that's exactly what this year's football team has to do.

It will be interesting to see if having success in boys basketball translates to success on the gridiron. It may or it may not, but no matter what happens these kids have to continue to fight hard throughout the season.

Winnebago has to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and force teams to get creative on offense and defense.

The more looks the Indians can give teams on defense, the more successful they will be.

Defense will be critical for Winnebago this year. The Indians gave up quite a few points last year, and if the Indians want to be in more football games this season, they have to get more stops.

The offense also needs to step things up. Winnebago showed flashes of greatness on offense last year, but just wasn't consistent enough. The Indians have to become more consistent on offense.

If Winnebago improves a lot on both sides of the ball this season, the Indians should give themselves a chance to make the playoffs.

Pender hoping for successful season

Team: Pender

Mascot: Pendragons

Colors: Red and White

Class: D-1

Head Coach: Andy Welsh

2014 record: 2-6

Returning Starters: 5 offense 6 defense

Overview:

The Pender Pendragons have plenty to look forward to and be excited about in 2015 as they return a lot of their team that went 2-6 a season ago.

Senior Devin Soll, an all-district player and all-state candidate, returns on the offensive line for Pender. He will get some help up front from senior tight end Kolton Lehmkuhl.

Junior Dylan Roth returns as the team's starting quarterback after passing for 556 yards and seven touchdowns a season ago.

The Pendragons return plenty of talent in the offensive backfield as three running backs are back. Seniors Lorenzo Duenas and Shay Messerlie return as does junior James Benson.

Duenas rushed for 515 yards and five touchdowns last season while Messerlie ran for 308 yards and four touchdowns. Benson had 250 yards on the ground in 2014 along with seven scores.

Soll (49 tackles, 10 TFL) and Messerlie (28 tackles, 14 TFL, 2 FR) will be tough on the defensive line. Roth is back as Pender's safety.

The Pendragons should be strong at the linebacker position as Lehmkuhl (50 tackles, 5 TFL), Benson (40 tackles), and Duenas (18 tackles) are all back.

Benson is back as Pender's punter.

I look for the Pendragons to be very competitive this year. Pender was competitive in five of their eight games last year, and I look for the Pendragons to turn the corner this year and win four or five games.

I could even see Pender making the playoffs if they do enough. The Pendragons certainly have enough returning experience to reach the postseason.

Pender should be stout at the quarterback and running back positions. The offensive line should also be solid as should the defensive line and linebacker positions on defense.

The secondary and wide receiver corps could be a bit of a question mark for the Pendragons. Pender could struggle against teams that are pass heavy, but should be good against teams that run a lot.

The Pendragons have to be very physical up front, and win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

Stopping the run and getting the run game going will be very important for Pender week in and week out. The Pendragons also have to win the turnover battle to be successful this season.

Certain things have to go Pender's way if they are to be good and reach the playoffs this year, but the Pendragons are certainly capable of having a season to remember.

Pender had success in legion baseball, but hasn't had success in football or basketball in quite a while. Having success this football season would be a huge step in the right direction for boys sports at Pender.

The biggest thing for Pendragons is going out and having fun. Football should be fun. Pender has to play loose week in and week out.

The more the Pendragons can execute their offensive and defensive game plans, the better off they will be.

There may be some pressure packed moments for Pender this season so their ability to remain calm in close, tight ball games will be critical to their success.

It will be interesting to see if the Pendragons can have success this year given all the experience they bring back.

Season Outlook:

The Pender Pendragons have to be optimistic about 2015. Pender appears to have the pieces in place to make a run at the playoffs, and find success this season.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic, Creighton, Scribner-Snyder, and Bloomfield will all be tough for the Pendragons to beat, but if Pender can take care of business in all their other games they should put themselves in a position to make the playoffs.

The Pendragons are certainly capable of beating anyone they play, and could pull off an upset this season, but it's not going to be an easy ride for Pender.

The Pendragons will be challenged by the four teams listed above, and the rest of their schedule, including Wakefield, will be no cakewalk.

Winnebago and Omaha Nation will no doubt want revenge from last year after Pender beat them so Pender has to be ready to go in those games as well.

The Pendragons have a somewhat difficult district with GACC and Scribner-Snyder in there, but Pender should do no worse than third in District D1-2.

The ultimate goal for the Pendragons this season has to be make the playoffs. It would be quite an accomplishment for Pender to make the postseason should they do enough to get in.

The Pendragons have to take things one game at a time and can't get caught looking ahead, but as long as Pender stays focused throughout the season, they should have a chance to be competitive in every game they play in.

The Pendragons can't back down from anyone, and can't be scared of any of their opponents. Pender has to play tough, hard nosed, smashmouth football all season long, and continue to fight and battle no matter what happens.

The Pendragons have to play hard all season long. At no point can Pender afford to give up. The Pendragons have to give 100% effort on everything they do.

If Pender controls what they can control, limits turnovers, creates turnovers, and plays optimistic football all season long, they should have a chance to make the playoffs.

The Pendragons have a chance to turn things around in 2015.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic aiming for state title

Team: Guardian Angels Central Catholic

Mascot: Bluejays

Colors: Blue and White

Class: D-1

Head Coach: Dave Ridder

2014 record: 11-1 (lost in state semifinals to BDS)

Returning Starters: 4 offense 4 defense

Overview:

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays have high hopes for 2015 as the Bluejays reached the state semifinals a year ago before losing a tough game to BDS in the state semifinals.

GACC returns all-state running back Tanner Hass (6'2, 195), who only saw action in four games a season ago, yet still managed to rush for 529 yards and six touchdowns.

Seniors Eric Klitz (5'8, 165) and Brandon Hass (5'10, 150) also return at running back for the Bluejays as does junior Mitchell Hass (5'9, 140).

Klitz rushed for 226 yards and four touchdowns last year while Brandon Hass rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns, and Mitchell Hass ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Junior Nolan Plagge (6'0, 165) will be the team's starting quarterback this season after rushing for 131 yards and three touchdowns a year ago.

Senior tight end Tanner Ortmeier (6'4, 190) figures to get plenty of balls thrown his way this year as he caught 19 passes for 456 yards and nine touchdowns in 2014.

Anchoring things up front will be Noah Kreikemeier (6'3, 190), who was a second-team all-district pick last fall.

On defense, Ortmeier (106 tackles, 10 TFL), senior Luke Gnad (5'7, 175), who had 70 tackles last year, Brandon Hass (59 tackles), Plagge (58 tackles, 8 TFL), Kreikemeier (43 tackles, 6 TFL), Tanner Hass (34 tackles), Klitz (27 tackles), and junior Andrew Guenther (28 tackles) will all be leaders for the Bluejays.

GACC has to be thinking state championship this year. The Bluejays have the talent and skill to make a run at the D-1 crown. GACC figures to be challenged by Howells-Dodge, High Plains, Scribner-Snyder, and Pender.

The Bluejays have to take things one game at a time, and remained focused throughout the season.

GACC will no doubt have a target on their back, which means the Bluejays must be ready to play week in and week out.

GACC has to be ready to play four quarters of football every week, and must make quick work of the teams they're supposed to beat easily.

The Bluejays have to maximize their potential throughout the season if they want to get where they want to.

GACC had a fine season last year, and there's no reason to think the Bluejays won't be good this year.

GACC should be very strong at the running back position, and should be solid up front with Kreikemeier and Ortmeier. Plagge should do well transitioning to quarterback.

The Bluejays should be solid all the way around. GACC should have a very good offense, and a very good defense. The Bluejays will no doubt be tough to beat this season. Teams will have to bring their A game every time they play GACC.

The Bluejays have to stay healthy as do all teams who want to make a run at a state title, but as long as that happens look for GACC to be in the hunt come November.

It should be a special season for the Bluejays. GACC has plenty to look forward to this year.

Season Outlook:

A perfect 8-0 regular season is very possible for Guardian Angels Central Catholic for the second year in a row.

The Bluejays figure to be challenged by the likes of Howells-Dodge, Scribner-Snyder, Pender, and High Plains, but as long as GACC can get by those teams, the Bluejays should be able to take care of the rest of the teams on their schedule and post another perfect regular season record.

The thing GACC can't afford to do this year is look ahead. The Bluejays have to be focused each week on whoever they are playing. Take things one game and one week at a time. That's the recipe for success for GACC.

The Bluejays have the potential to create a lot of lifelong memories this season. There are quite a few seniors on this team, and knowing it's their last hoorah should motivate them a lot.

This is the year for GACC to get the job done. Chances like this don't come every fall. The Bluejays definitely have the pedigree to be a state championship team.

A lot depends on match ups and how well GACC is playing at the end of the season, but I look for the Bluejays to be playing their best football come playoff time.

GACC may struggle in the first quarter or first half of their opener with some players adjusting to new roles and playing together, but it shouldn't take terribly long for everyone to get settled in.

The Bluejays don't rebuild, they simply reload. And I look for that to be the case again this year. It should be a banner year for GACC. The Bluejays could very well bring home some hardware in November.

A state championship would be awesome for the players, coaches, parents, and fans. It would also be good for the city of West Point and the Northeast Nebraska area. I would like to see GACC win a title this year.

Oakland-Craig looking for another big season

Team: Oakland-Craig

Mascot: Knights

Colors: Orange and White

Class: C-2

Head Coach: Joe Anderson

2014 record: 10-2 (lost in state semifinals to Hartington Cedar Catholic)

Returning Starters: 4 offense 5 defense

Overview:

The Oakland-Craig Knights look to continue last year's success with another big year this year.

Leading the way on offense will be senior quarterback Cole Mitchell, who threw for 600 yards and eight touchdowns in limited action last season.

Mitchell will be handing off to all-district player and Ansley-Litchfield transfer Hoss Smith (5'10, 190), in addition to senior Tommy Nelson (5'8, 140) and junior Ben Ward (5'8, 150).

Cody Mace (5'10, 170) figures to be Mitchell's primary target at wide receiver after hauling in seven passes for 125 yards a season ago. Mace's numbers would have been higher had he not filled in for Mitchell at quarterback while Mitchell was injured.

Other receivers include seniors Bob Gatewood (5'10, 160) and Cody Malette (5'6, 150), and sophomore Garrett Seagren (6'0, 160).

Lining up at tight end will be junior Zach Arens (6'1, 170).

The offensive line will include seniors Conner Thiele (6'2, 210), Neil Larsen (6'0, 240), and Reid Fuerhoff (5'11, 235) as well as juniors Josh Dixon (5'9, 170) and Isaiah Larson (6'0, 280). Senior Mitch Smith (5'9, 160) and sophomore Marcos Quintero (5'9, 190) will add depth to Oakland-Craig's offensive line.

Thiele (163 tackles, 2 sacks) is an all-state linebacker and will be joined by Nelson (50 tackles) and Dixon (19 tackles). Smith, Arens, and Mallette could all see playing time at the linebacker position as well.

Mace (2 INT) is no doubt the leader in the secondary, and will be in the defensive backfield with the likes of Mitchell and Gatewood.

Larsen, Larson, Quintero, and Fuerhoff figure to vie for playing time on the defensive line, which is believed to be inexperienced.

I look for the Knights to be a very solid team once again this season. Oakland-Craig has to be very optimistic about their chances of making another deep playoff run.

Sure, the Knights lost quite a bit of talent from last year, but don't underestimate this team. New players are capable of putting their stamp on this program and making a name for themselves.

Oakland-Craig has to remain hungry. The Knights can't be satisfied with what happened last season. Oakland-Craig has to want more.

The goal should be win the state championship, or at least get there. Neither may happen, but it's at least something to shoot for.

Don't be surprised if the Knights are knocking on the door come playoff time. I expect Oakland-Craig to be a tough out come the postseason.

The Knights have to be a tough, hard nosed football team this season. Oakland-Craig has to build on the success they had last year, and carry it into this year.

Season Outlook:

The Oakland-Craig Knights have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the 2015 season.

Oakland-Craig will have to be ready from the get go with the season opener at Archbishop Bergan followed by Battle Creek at home the following week.

The Knights have to do everything in their power to avoid an 0-2 start. I think Oakland-Craig could live with a 1-1 split the first two games of the season.

The rest of the schedule isn't exactly a cake walk.

Oakland-Craig has tough road games against Crofton and Stanton, in addition to a challenging home game with Wisner-Pilger to end the regular season.

I don't see the Knights doing worse than 6-3, but I definitely think Oakland-Craig is capable of going 7-2 or 8-1 again.

It will be extremely difficult to beat Archbishop Bergan, Battle Creek, and Stanton, but I think winning two out of the three is very possible, just like last year.

Oakland-Craig has done very well in recent years, and I look for this year to be no different.

Expectations have to be high, just like they have been in the past. These players have to meet coaches' demands and challenges each and every week. Excuses can't be made. The Knights have to go out there and get the job done every day at practice, and in games.

It should be a fun and successful season for Oakland-Craig. The Knights have plenty to be excited about this season.

Logan View hoping to be better in 2015

Team: Logan View

Mascot: Raiders

Colors: Blue and Gold

Class: C-2

Head Coach: Jeremy Bohaboj (7th season)

2014 record: 1-8

Returning Starters: 7 offense 5 defense

Overview:

The Logan View Raiders hope 2015 treats them better than 2014 did.

Logan View was pretty competitive throughout much of the season last year, but really stumbled at the end.

This season, the Raiders will be led by senior all-district quarterback Garrett Knoell (5'8, 170). His back up will be sophomore Jacob Polk (5'11, 150).

Logan View will be led in the offensive backfield by running backs Nathan Rock (5'11, 150 SR) and Grant Meyer (5'11, 175 JR). Armando Velencia (5'8, 140 JR) and Nolan Miller (5'8, 150) also figure to get some carries for the Raiders this season.

Seniors Colin Vonseggern (5'11, 145) and Connor Gralheer (6'1, 155) help make up the receiving corps along with Junior Andrew Poppe (6'0, 140). Seeing a lot of action at the tight end position will be senior Hunter Schlueter (6'2, 160).

All-District senior Zach Heinke (6'1, 190) anchors the offensive line and will be joined by seniors Zac Wanamaker (5'6, 170), Nick Epperson (5'10, 195), and Junior Brett Hull (5'10, 175).

Senior Chase Nielsen (5'10, 190) and sophomore Nathan Taylor (5'10, 155) could also see some playing time on the offensive line.

Knoell, Meyer, Wanamaker, Velencia, and Taylor will lead Logan View at linebacker while Poppe, Rock, Polk, Vonseggern, and Gralheer will patrol the secondary.

The defensive line consists of Schlueter, Hull, Heinke, Epperson, and Nielsen.

There's certainly quite a bit of veteran experience returning for the Raiders. Look for that to culminate in more wins than last season.

Logan View just has to become more consistent this year. The Raiders were very competitive at times last year, but struggled at others.

Logan View has to simply want it more than their opponents this season, and that has to show in their play on the field.

There's no more room for excuses. Now is the time for the Raiders to shine and win some games. This year is Logan View's chance given who they bring back.

This season has a chance to be special for the Raiders, they just have to take advantage of their opportunities and capitalize on other teams' mistakes.

Playing error free football could go a long ways in determining the success of this team. The Raiders have to limit turnovers, and must find ways to create turnovers themselves. It will be important for Logan View to win the turnover battle each week.

2015 has a chance to be somewhat of a breakout year for the Raiders. I think Logan View has the potential to go 4-5, maybe 5-4 if they pull off a couple of upsets.

Season Outlook:

The time is now if you are the Logan View Raiders.

Logan View has a chance to win some games this year given who is on their schedule.

The Raiders open up with Palmyra, a team they lost to by a point last season.

Logan View also has winnable games against Homer, Wisner-Pilger, Omaha Brownell-Talbot, and Tekamah-Herman.

The Raiders have tough and challenging games against Stanton, Archbishop Bergan, Yutan, and defending state champion David City Aquinas.

Logan View has to simply step up in every game this season. Wisner-Pilger could be a much improved team from last season, but I look at the Raiders as being in that same category.

I think Logan View has a chance to do much better than they did last year. I definitely think the Raiders will finish with a better record than 1-8.

The ball has to bounce the right way for Logan View and the Raiders have to control what they can control, but if those things happen don't be surprised if Logan View significantly improves their win total this year.

Winning the district will be extremely difficult, but I think the Raiders have a chance to be competitive within the district.

I feel like Logan View is more equipped to compete with the big boys this year than they were last year. I'm not saying the Raiders are going to go out there and win every game, but I feel like Logan View has a chance to make every game they play in close.

The Raiders have to play with confidence, and must believe in themselves. No one controls their attitude and effort except them.

It could be a season filled with memories for Logan View.

North Bend Central hoping to see improvement in 2015

Team: North Bend Central

Mascot: Tigers

Colors: Orange and Black

Class: C-1

Head Coach: Tony Allgood

2014 record: 0-9

Returning Starters: N/A

Overview:

The North Bend Central Tigers hope to be improved from a year ago, when the Tigers went 0-9.

North Bend Central really struggled last year as they were pretty much blown out in every game.

The Tigers hope to be more competitive in 2015, and certainly they can be.

It takes a tremendous amount of heart and dedication to improve from one season to the next, but there's no doubt North Bend Central is capable of putting a more competitive team on the field this season.

One player who figures to help out the Tigers quite a bit is all-district honorable mention senior Nick Hines.

North Bend Central has to be tough on the offensive and defensive lines this season. The Tigers must play smashmouth football, and knock people off the ball.

The skill guys have to do their job as well. North Bend Central must find success running and passing the ball if they hope to be successful this season.

Stopping the run and pass is equally important for this team. The Tigers really struggled on both sides of the ball last year so they need to see vast improvement on offense and defense.

It will be interesting to see if North Bend Central is any better this year than last. I think you will see this team compete hard week in and week out, and never quit.

Whether that leads to better results on the field, it's hard saying, but I'm sure the Tigers will give it their all this season.

Season Outlook:

There are a number of very winnable games on the schedule this season.

North Bend Central's best chances at wins figure to come against West Point-Beemer, Madison, Columbus Lakeview, and David City.

The tough games are against Pierce, Boone Central/Newman Grove, Bishop Neumann, Columbus Scotus, and Wahoo.

The Tigers aren't in the easiest district, but should be able to give themselves a chance to win a couple of games within the district.

It all comes down to playing with pride and executing if you are North Bend Central.

The Tigers really have to get after it this season, and play their hearts out week in and week out.

North Bend Central may be overmatched in some games, but that doesn't mean they can quit. This team has to remain competitive at all times, and never give up.

It's a privilege to play high school football, and these kids must play the game the right way. Hard work, sacrifice, team work, and dedication is what each and every one of these players has to be about this season.

The Tigers have a chance to do better than they did last year. Even if North Bend Central goes 0-9 again, if they are at least competitive in some of their games, that could be something to build on for 2016.

Winning a game or two this season would be a big improvement for this program. It can happen, the Tigers just have to go out there and make it happen.

West Point-Beemer looking for success this fall

Team: West Point-Beemer

Mascot: Cadets

Colors: Red and White

Class: C-1

Head Coach: Nate Blankenship (6th season)

2014 record: 4-5

Returning Starters: 4 offense 4 defense

Overview:

After finding some success in 2014, the West Point-Beemer Cadets hope 2015 treats them even better.

West Point-Beemer won their final two games last season, and certainly appear to have some momentum coming into this season.

The Cadets appear to have a nice blend of talent, size, and speed at the skill positions and on the offensive and defensive lines.

Tate Toelle (5'8, 150) is expected to take the reigns at Quarterback this season. Riley Berg (5'9, 150), Dylan James (5'10, 160), and Hunter Pilakowski (5'9, 175) figure to lead West Point-Beemer's run game.

Senior Blake Schroedter (6'0, 160), Berg, and Junior Jackson Hoffman (6'0, 160) are expected to help carry the load at wide receiver.

Seniors Jacob Combs (6'1, 230), Chris Palm (6'0, 190), Tucker Luebbert (5'9, 215), and Edwin Ambrosio (5'7, 220) bolster the offensive line, which also consists of sophomores Austin Streeter (6'2, 170) and Chase Streeter (6'2, 170).

The Cadets have some size up front, but some of the linemen need to put on muscle as the season progresses. West Point-Beemer should be respectable on the line, but will have their work cut out going up against the likes of Boone Central/Newman Grove, Norfolk Catholic, and Pierce.

Defensively, Toelle (20 tackles, 4 PBU, 2 INT's) and Schroedter are back in the secondary while Combs (21 tackles, 3 TFL), Ambrosio, Tucker Luebbert, and senior letterman Brayden Luebbert (5'10, 210) help make up the defensive line.

West Point-Beemer has to be tough stopping the run this season. Being physical at the line of scrimmage will be important for the Cadets' defensive line as well as the offensive line.

West Point-Beemer has to establish a physical presence on both sides of the football, and must find success running the ball while limiting teams' ground games.

If the Cadets can limit turnovers, catch some breaks, and avoid giving up big plays while creating their own big plays, I don't see any reason why this team can't go 4-5 again, or perhaps 5-4.

A lot is going to depend on how well West Point-Beemer executes, and what kind of attitude they bring with them to the field every game.

The Cadets aren't going to be the more talented team every time they take the field so their ability to control what they can control will be pivotal to their success.

Season Outlook:

West Point-Beemer has a chance to win some games in 2015.

The schedule isn't necessarily the easiest, but the Cadets should have a good chance at beating North Bend, Arlington, Madison, and Wayne.

That's not to say West Point-Beemer can't knock off Fort Calhoun, Wahoo, Boone Central/Newman Grove, Norfolk Catholic, or Pierce, but those games will be very difficult.

The Cadets have the Pioneeers at home in the opener, and should have a chance at picking up a win.

It's a new season, and West Point-Beemer has to be thinking they can compete with anyone on their schedule.

The Cadets have to play with a positive attitude and a winning mentality. West Point-Beemer can't dwell on mistakes, and let one mistake lead to another.

The Cadets must have a short memory, and simply let things go. At the same time, West Point-Beemer can't get too hung up on a big play. The Cadets have to be focused and give it their all on each snap.

West Point-Beemer has to play hard throughout the season, and give it their all each time out. The Cadets can't be intimidated by anyone they play, and must not back down from anyone.

It will be interesting to see how West Point-Beemer fares this year. The Cadets don't have an easy schedule and are in a tough district, so making the playoffs will be a very tall task.

Anything is possible though, and that's why West Point-Beemer has to play optimistic football this season. You just never know how things are going to go. It's a new season, and anything can happen.

I want to wish the Cadets the best in 2015.

Stanton hoping for big season

Team: Stanton

Mascot: Mustangs

Colors: Orange and Black

Class: C-2

Head Coach: David Stoddard (2nd season) (7-3 career record)

2014 record: 7-3 (lost to Freeman in first round of playoffs)

Returning Starters: 9 offense 8 defense

Overview:

There's plenty of reason for optimism this season if you're the Stanton Mustangs.

Stanton returns 9 starters on offense and 8 starters on defense from last season's 7-3 class C-2 state qualifying team.

The strengths for the Mustangs coming into 2015 start up front with 4 starters returning on the offensive line including all state candidate Blake Huisman (6-4/230 Sr.), Christian Stallbaum (5-10 185/Sr.), Mason King (5-7 180 /Jr.), and Gannon Tighe (6-3 230/Jr.). John White (6-0 200/Sr) and Dylan Hunt (6-0 190 Jr.) will compete for a starting spot on the OL and add depth to this unit.

The entire Mustang backfield returns led by Sr. Grant King (698 yds/8 TD’s), So. Fullback Trey Erbst (382 yds/5 TD’s), Sr. Corbin Warnke (295 yds/4 TD’s), Stanton looks to Juniors Henry Bohac Sr. Kyle Sperl, and Myles Nickolite to contribute carrying the ball also.

The leading wide receivers are back, Jr. Henry Bohac (12 rec/216 yds/1 TD) and Jr. Hunter Stallbaum (5 rec/214 yds/2 TD’s., and Sr. Josh Krentz (4rec/69yds).

At quarterback, Sr. QB Mitchael Sieh returs as well. After taking over full time duties in week 3, Sieh threw for 735 yds/8 TD’s and rushed for 209 yds./1 TD.

On Defense, Huisman (49 tackles/2 sacks) and Hunt (61 tackles/2 sacks) return to the DL, as White, Tighe, and Sr. Marquis Matthies (5’10-305 ) will add depth and competition.

Returning leading tackler Mason King (105 tackles) returns at linebacker with fellow starters T. Erbst ( 44 tackles), Grant King (59 tackles), Warnke (40 tackles). Look for M. Nickolite (22 tackles), C. Stallbaum (54 tackles), and H. Bohac (8 tackles) to move to the final spot and add depth.

The secondary returns CB Hunter Stallbaum (3 Ints) and Kyle Sperl (1 Int), and Sieh at free safety (88 tackles/2 Ints).

Stanton’s special teams return Kicker Brook Klinetobe (2 FG’s-12 PATS) in 4 games and Punter B. Huisman (33.2 avg.).

The Mustangs need replace the loss of 5 great seniors that each brought something special to the team (Gone- Christian Heppner All-State OL-Ross Locke –Leader/TE).

They will also need to build depth at each position on both sides of the ball, work hard in the weight room, and continue having fun with the process to accomplish their goals in 2015.

As you can see, there's plenty of talent across the board for Stanton. The Mustangs figure to be pretty salty both running and passing the ball.

Stanton's ability to mix both the pass and run will be critical to their success this season.

The Mustangs were competitive in all but two games a season ago. It will be interesting to see if Stanton can close the gap with teams like Battle Creek and Oakland-Craig.

The Mustangs should have a very fine season nonetheless. I see Stanton going 7-2 or better. The Mustangs could be challenged by Wisner-Pilger and perhaps Ponca, but outside of games with Battle Creek and Oakland-Craig, the Mustangs shouldn't have a lot of issues winning.

Having a lot of experience back helps tremendously, and Stanton returns most of their guys from last year. It should be a good season for the Mustangs.

Season Outlook:

Stanton has to be thinking big picture in 2015. The Mustangs were solid at 7-3 in David Stoddard's first season, and I look for Stanton to take the next step and win in the playoffs this season.

The Mustangs came close to beating Freeman in the first round of the playoffs last year, but lost 26-21. There's a lot Stanton most likely took from that game that will be used as fuel to the fire for this season.

The Mustangs don't have a tremendously tough schedule, although Stanton will be challenged right off the bat at Battle Creek.

There's a lot Stanton can take from last year's lopsided loss and apply to this year.

The Mustangs have to get off to fast start in games this year, and can't have any bad quarters. Stanton has to play four quarters of football to have the success they want to this season.

Senior leadership will be important as will the development of younger players. The Mustangs need everyone on the same page, and everyone has to have one common goal in mind...win.

Stanton has to be hungry for victory each and every time they take the field.

The Mustangs played well for the most part last season, but faltered in their two toughest games. If Stanton wants to have a year to remember they have to perform better against Battle Creek and Oakland-Craig.

As they say you in order to be the best, you have to beat the best, and the Mustangs have to think that way this season.

There's a lot that can be accomplished by this Stanton team, they just have to go out there and take the bull by the horns so to speak.

The Mustangs have a tough opener, and will most likely be challenged in the middle of the season by Wisner-Pilger and Oakland-Craig.

A team like Tekamah-Herman could even possibly sneak up on Stanton just as the Tigers did last year.

Stanton simply cannot afford to take anyone lightly.

The Mustangs have the potential to be really good this year, things just have to come together at the right time for Stanton, and they have to raise their level of play in big games.

David Stoddard's C2-4 District Predictions:

1. Stanton
2. Oakland-Craig
3.Ponca
4.Wisner-Pilger
5.Laurel-Concord
6.Homer
