Overview:
The Logan View Raiders hope 2015 treats them better than 2014 did.
Logan View was pretty competitive throughout much of the season last year, but really stumbled at the end.
This season, the Raiders will be led by senior all-district quarterback Garrett Knoell (5'8, 170). His back up will be sophomore Jacob Polk (5'11, 150).
Logan View will be led in the offensive backfield by running backs Nathan Rock (5'11, 150 SR) and Grant Meyer (5'11, 175 JR). Armando Velencia (5'8, 140 JR) and Nolan Miller (5'8, 150) also figure to get some carries for the Raiders this season.
Seniors Colin Vonseggern (5'11, 145) and Connor Gralheer (6'1, 155) help make up the receiving corps along with Junior Andrew Poppe (6'0, 140). Seeing a lot of action at the tight end position will be senior Hunter Schlueter (6'2, 160).
All-District senior Zach Heinke (6'1, 190) anchors the offensive line and will be joined by seniors Zac Wanamaker (5'6, 170), Nick Epperson (5'10, 195), and Junior Brett Hull (5'10, 175).
Senior Chase Nielsen (5'10, 190) and sophomore Nathan Taylor (5'10, 155) could also see some playing time on the offensive line.
Knoell, Meyer, Wanamaker, Velencia, and Taylor will lead Logan View at linebacker while Poppe, Rock, Polk, Vonseggern, and Gralheer will patrol the secondary.
The defensive line consists of Schlueter, Hull, Heinke, Epperson, and Nielsen.
There's certainly quite a bit of veteran experience returning for the Raiders. Look for that to culminate in more wins than last season.
Logan View just has to become more consistent this year. The Raiders were very competitive at times last year, but struggled at others.
Logan View has to simply want it more than their opponents this season, and that has to show in their play on the field.
There's no more room for excuses. Now is the time for the Raiders to shine and win some games. This year is Logan View's chance given who they bring back.
This season has a chance to be special for the Raiders, they just have to take advantage of their opportunities and capitalize on other teams' mistakes.
Playing error free football could go a long ways in determining the success of this team. The Raiders have to limit turnovers, and must find ways to create turnovers themselves. It will be important for Logan View to win the turnover battle each week.
2015 has a chance to be somewhat of a breakout year for the Raiders. I think Logan View has the potential to go 4-5, maybe 5-4 if they pull off a couple of upsets.
Season Outlook:
The time is now if you are the Logan View Raiders.
Logan View has a chance to win some games this year given who is on their schedule.
The Raiders open up with Palmyra, a team they lost to by a point last season.
Logan View also has winnable games against Homer, Wisner-Pilger, Omaha Brownell-Talbot, and Tekamah-Herman.
The Raiders have tough and challenging games against Stanton, Archbishop Bergan, Yutan, and defending state champion David City Aquinas.
Logan View has to simply step up in every game this season. Wisner-Pilger could be a much improved team from last season, but I look at the Raiders as being in that same category.
I think Logan View has a chance to do much better than they did last year. I definitely think the Raiders will finish with a better record than 1-8.
The ball has to bounce the right way for Logan View and the Raiders have to control what they can control, but if those things happen don't be surprised if Logan View significantly improves their win total this year.
Winning the district will be extremely difficult, but I think the Raiders have a chance to be competitive within the district.
I feel like Logan View is more equipped to compete with the big boys this year than they were last year. I'm not saying the Raiders are going to go out there and win every game, but I feel like Logan View has a chance to make every game they play in close.
The Raiders have to play with confidence, and must believe in themselves. No one controls their attitude and effort except them.
It could be a season filled with memories for Logan View.
