Stanton wallops Omaha Brownell-Talbot in first game of year

The Stanton Football Team took it to Omaha Brownell-Talbot on the road Friday night, winning 67-14.

The Mustangs led 16-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 35-0 at halftime.

Stanton extended their lead to 47 nil at the end of the 3rd quarter, and won the 4th quarter 20-14 to make up the final score.

Parker Krusemark was 3-3 passing for 93 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 64 yards on 4 carries, and scoring once. Gage Tighe also ran the ball 7 times for 64 yards and scored once, while Jason Claussen rushed the ball 7 times for 61 yards, and scored once. Brayan Acuna had 56 yards rushing on 5 carries, and scored a touchdown, while Sutton Pohlman had 55 yards rushing on 5 carries, and scored twice. Pohlman also hauled in a 76-yard TD pass.

Tighe led the way with 8 tackles.

The Mustangs had 455 yards of total offense, including 362 rushing

The defense gave up 251 yards of total offense, including 171 through the air.

All in all a great performance by Stanton and a good win to start the year for the Mustangs.

Stanton (1-0) entertains Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (2-0) at home Friday night.

The Bears scored 22 unanswered points in a 22-14 home win over Wisner-Pilger Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge appears to be the real deal this year, and the Mustangs are going to need to play very well to come away with the win.

I think Stanton will need a balanced offense and rushing attack again to be successful.

The Mustangs have to perform the way they did the first 3 quarters against the Raiders for the entire game against the Bears.

This is a battle of a couple of former 11-man teams so it will be interesting to see what happens with the two teams duking it out in 8-man action.

I think Stanton has a shot to win based on the fact that they are at home and have a lot of players just coming off of playing C-2 football.

The Mustangs have to play well and play four quarters of good football and finish the game strong, but they can definitely do it.

I think it all comes down to the 4th quarter and finishing the game though.

Stanton certainly has to save their best for last.
