The Wisner-Pilger Gators dropped their season opener at Crofton, falling 28-6.

Here is a recap of the scoring:

Third Quarter

Crofton
Tanner Crosley 9 YD TD Run--PAT Good-Wragge

Fourth Quarter

Wisner-Pilger
Cooper Von Seggern 3 yd TD run---Pat Failed

A 28-6 loss is nothing to be thrilled with, but I thought Wisner-Pilger hung in there and competed hard. The score certainly could have been a lot worse than it was.

The Gators (0-1) host rival Stanton (1-0) Friday night.

The Mustangs beat Elmwood-Murdock 41-7 on the road Friday night.

Stanton is obviously a very good team, but this is a rivalry game and anything can happen.

Wisner-Pilger has to believe in themselves and play their hearts out Friday night.

The Gators can't be scared of the Mustangs. Wisner-Pilger has to take the fight to Stanton, and give the Mustangs all they can handle for four quarters.

You can bet emotions will be running high in this game, and the Gators have to do what they can to keep their composure.

The team that is smart and doesn't commit the silly, bonehead penalties will put themselves in the best position to win I think.

Wisner-Pilger has to play optimistic football and execute at a high level.

The Gators have to get excited and be energized for this game. The contest doesn't figure to be the easiest for Wisner-Pilger so the Gators have to maximize their potential and do everything they can to give Stanton a good game.

Win or lose, Wisner-Pilger needs a solid outing heading into the West Point-Beemer game.

The Gators would like to have as much momentum as possible heading into that game with the Cadets being a C-1 foe.
