BRLD thumps Hartington Cedar Catholic in first game of season

The BRLD Football Team dominated Hartington Cedar Catholic in Friday night's season opener, winning 48-22 at home.

Will Gatzemeyer was a one man wrecking crew for the Wolverines, throwing for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns on 9-18 passing, and also rushing for 130 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. Kobe Lyons scored on a 69-yard TD run on his only rushing attempt of the night.

Jaxon Johnson hauled in 4 passes for 90 yards, and scored a touchdown.

Parker Paulson had 10 tackles while Johnson made 8 and Lucas Vogt and Dustin Burgett had 7 each.

BRLD totaled 433 yards of offense, including 227 on the ground.

The Wolverines gave the Trojans a good ole fashioned butt whoopin. I must say I was very surprised by this.

BRLD (1-0) takes on Ponca (1-0) on the road Friday night.

The Indians won 36-8 at Tekamah-Herman Friday night.

The win over the Trojans was great, but the Wolverines need to refocus themselves and get ready for a great battle Friday night.

Ponca is a very good football team, and it's never easy to play up there and win.

BRLD is very capable of going up there and getting the job done though..

If you dominate Hartington Cedar Catholic the way the Wolverines did then you can go into Ponca and win.

BRLD has to be very confident and has to go into Ponca believing they can win and dominate.

The Wolverines have to be careful about getting overconfident and big headed though.

BRLD has to keep an even keel and a level head, and must respect the Indians.

Ponca is a very good football team, and if the Wolverines don't play with the same purpose, energy, enthusiasm, will, determination, heart, and grit they played with against the Trojans then the game could turn out the way BRLD hopes it doesn't.

The Wolverines have to remain hungry, and must bring the same physical style of hard hitting, physical football they brought against Hartington Cedar Catholic.

BRLD has to be ready to bring the wood and lunch pail, and smack Ponca in the mouth.

The Wolverines have to play relentlessly for 4 quarters, and continue to turn heads and dominate.

I think BRLD has already captured the attention of many from around the state, but can they keep it going?

I think how the Wolverines handle success will tell the tale Friday night.

I think the game will either be close or BRLD will blow the Indians out of the water.
