Emerson-Hubbard blanks Scribner-Snyder
The Emerson-Hubbard Football team shutout Scribner-Snyder 39-0 on the road Friday night.
The Pirates blanked the Trojans 14-0 in the first quarter, and 12-0 in the second quarter to take a 26-0 lead into the locker room.
Emerson-Hubbard shutout Scribner-Snyder 13-0 in the third quarter to make up the final score as no one scored in the 4th quarter.
The Pirates gave up 106 yards of total offense, all on the ground.
Solid win for Emerson-Hubbard. Anytime you pitch a shutout you're doing something right.
The Pirates (1-1) host Humphrey St. Francis (3-0) Friday night.
The Flyers outlasted Wynot 22-20 at home in overtime this past Friday night.
Humphrey St. Francis is very good yet again this year, and it will be very difficult for Emerson-Hubbard to beat them, in my opinion.
The Pirates did shutout the Trojans though so they have that going for them.
The offense also appeared to be pretty stout and solid for Emerson-Hubbard last week.
So perhaps the Pirates have figured a few things out, but regardless Emerson-Hubbard is going to have to be great and on top of their game this week.
Wynot gave the Flyers a run for their money so the Pirates ought to be thinking they've got a shot to do the same thing.
This is a big game for Emerson-Hubbard....a very big game for their program.
No game is a given win, and at least 4 out of the Pirates' last 6 games appear to be very difficult.
Emerson-Hubbard definitely has their work cut out for them the rest of the way, and is going to have to play very well from here on out to ensure themselves a spot in the postseason.
It all starts with the Humphrey St. Francis game Friday night. We will truly find out how good this Pirates' squad is.
Emerson-Hubbard laid an egg in their first game and then turned things around this week so we'll find out how consistent the Pirates can be this week.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play extremely well and out of their minds to have a shot in this game, there's no other way to put it.
The Flyers are a perennial power, and always have good teams, and this year is no exception.
The Pirates are a solid team and program too though so Emerson-Hubbard has to feel pretty good about their chances of at least making this a game Friday night.
The ultimate goal is to win, and the Pirates have to play to win, but if Emerson-Hubbard can keep this thing within a couple of touchdowns that would have to be considered very respectable, in my opinion.
Perhaps the Pirates can turn a few heads and win though. The Blue Devils nearly did it last week so there's no reason to think Emerson-Hubbard can't do what Wynot didn't.
