Scribner-Snyder falls at Bloomfield
The Scribner-Snyder Football team fell 58-14 at Bloomfield Thursday night.
The Bees led 30-0 at the end of one, and outscored the Trojans 20-6 in the second quarter to lead 50-6 at the break.
Both teams scored 8 points in the third quarter. Neither team scored in the 4th.
Austin Peters had 109 yards rushing on 13 carries, and scored twice.
Hunter Adams and Josh Mcmillen totaled 7 tackles apiece.
The Trojans had 175 yards of total offense, including 168 on the ground.
The defense gave up 419 yards of total offense, 350 coming on the ground.
This was no doubt another tough game for Scribner-Snyder. The Trojans gave it their all I'm sure, but run defense in particular let Scribner-Snyder down in this one, in my opinion.
The Trojans (0-2) host Emerson-Hubbard (0-1) Friday night.
The Pirates lost 50-12 at home to Hartington-Newcastle this past Friday night.
Scribner-Snyder has Emerson-Hubbard and Winside at home back-to-back weeks so the Trojans have to simply forget about the last two weeks and start over.
Nothing can be done about the first two weeks of the season now. All Scribner-Snyder can do is move on and improve and grow from this.
I think the Trojans have a good shot to win their next two games.
Scribner-Snyder is at home, and should be able to keep the contests closer than they did the first two games of the season.
Mead and Bloomfield are arguably stronger teams than Emerson-Hubbard and Winside so the competition shouldn't be quite as stingy and tough for the Trojans the next two weeks.
Scribner-Snyder still has to come out and play smashmouth football, but if the Trojans can run the ball behind their big offensive line, and slow down the Pirates' and Wildcats' run games, they should stand a good chance to win both contests.
No win is ever a given, but Scribner-Snyder should give themselves to win their next two games.
I think the Emerson-Hubbard game will come down to the final stanza, but I think the Trojans will have no trouble with Winside, should the two even play.
Winside forfeited against Fullerton this past week so hopefully the Wildcats are able to field a team next week.
Scribner-Snyder can't worry about that right now though. The Trojans have to be solely focused on the Pirates, and must be ready to give Emerson-Hubbard everything they've got and then some Friday night.
The Pirates figure to be pretty tough as they've been a fixture in the playoffs in recent years.
Emerson-Hubbard has good tradition so the Pirates figure to give Scribner-Snyder all they want and then some.
Being low on numbers hurts the Trojans no doubt, but at the end of the day a lack of depth is an excuse.
Scribner-Snyder has to be the best conditioned team on the field to come away with the win, in my opinion.
