GACC overcomes slow start to down Plainview

The GACC Football Team was battle tested by Plainview for a while at home Friday night, but went on to win 60-26.

The game was tied at 20 at the end of one. The Bluejays shutout the Pirates 6-0 in the second quarter to go up 26-20 at halftime.

GACC outscored Plainview 20-6 in the third quarter to lead 46-26 at the end of three.

The Bluejays blanked the Pirates 14-0 in the fourth quarter.

Jared Minnick had 185 yards rushing on 23 carries, and scored three touchdowns.

Derek Petz was 7-12 passing for 164 yards with four touchdowns and an interception.

Jaden Rahn hauled in 4 passes for 108 yards, and scored twice.

GACC totaled 425 yards of offense, including 261 on the ground.

The defense gave up 341 yards of total offense, including 209 rushing.

Good win for the Bluejays. GACC found themselves in a dog fight early, but found their stride in the second half.

The Bluejays (3-0) take on Nebraska City Lourdes (1-2) on the road Friday night.

The Knights lost 42-6 at East Butler last time out.

At the beginning of the season I thought this might be the one regular season game GACC would lose, but now I don't think that's the case.

The Bluejays beat Lourdes 22-16 at home last year, but the Knights were a much better team a year ago than they are this year, in my opinion.

I look for Minnick and Petz to go down there and have big games and lead this team to victory.

GACC has to be ready to play from the get go though. The Bluejays can't afford the same type of start they got off to against Plainview.

GACC has to turn in a complete four quarter game to ensure themselves a win in this one I would say.

This is the Bluejays' last real test until the regular season finale against Pender.

If GACC can get past Lourdes they should be undefeated heading into the contest with Pender.

The Bluejays have to play one of their better games of the season and turn in a great performance Friday night.

This is one of GACC's last chances to impress, and the Bluejays have to make the most of this opportunity.

GACC has to come out and show what they are made of, and play great Football. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Bluejays built a big enough lead to have a running clock.

GACC is a really good team that just has to learn how to play four great quarters of football.

The Bluejays have figured out how to be dominant through much of their first three games, but haven't been dominate for 48 minutes at a time I would say.

I think GACC has a good chance to put together an outstanding performance this week and be halfway to another undefeated regular season.
