Bancroft-Rosalie-Lyons-Decatur loses at home to Crofton

In High School Football heard Friday night on 107.9 the Bull, Crofton defeated Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur 37-20. Head Coach Dan Maresh says going from 8 man to 11 man football is a big change."It's a steep learning curve for us. From competition level to playing 11 man, there's just a lot of new for us right now. And it takes a little bit to feel that out. We knew going into the season that we're going to have some setbacks. But I loved the way the team fought. A lot of kids grew up. I felt that this team made us a lot better at the end of the night."

His team trailed 29 to nothing at the half, but came back to make a good showing in the second half. "Yeah we just asked them to keep fighting. Don't look at the scoreboard. Take it one play at a time. And just let the chips fall where they may. I was really proud of the effort. Again we believe in our offense and the way we condition and stuff that if we can get us to that second half, that fourth quarter, we should have a chance to win. But things just didn't go right when we needed them to, but I love the way the kids fought and responded so I'm very, very proud of them."

The Wolverines (0-2) are at Ponca (2-0) Friday night.

The Indians are one of the surprise stories of the season so far as they knocked off Fremont Bergan the first game of the season and blew out Tekamah-Herman 53-6 last week.

BRLD is going to have to play very well to compete with and knock off Ponca.

The Wolverines are no doubt going to need the same type of effort they got in the second half against the Warriors.

BRLD can't afford to fall behind early, or fall behind in general. The Wolverines need to start strong, and punch the Indians in the mouth and put up a score early.

If BRLD can keep things close and hold a lead, or at the very least remain within striking distance, they may be able to pull the upset.

Winning on the road is never easy, especially against a team like Ponca, but the Wolverines have to believe in themselves and play hard.

BRLD has been dealt a real difficult hand this year with the schedule, but there's nothing the Wolverines can do but continue to fight and improve.

This team is still adjusting to and learning the 11 man game, and playing the Indians will certainly help BRLD down the road, regardless of if the Wolverines win or lose.

BRLD has to be physical, and be ready to run the ball with power, and slow down Ponca's run game.
