Wisner-Pilger loses rivalry game to West Point-Beemer

The Wisner-Pilger Gators lost 7-6 at home to West Point-Beemer Friday night in a game heard on 107.9 the Bull.

Both teams scored on their opening drive....but nothing after that. Gators Coach Brent Bauer. "This was a game where neither one of these teams could find themselves in a 2nd and 9 or a 3rd and 10. And I think a lot of time in that second quarter, third quarter, both teams found themselves in those situations, and just couldn't win those drives then."

The Gators gave up 200 yards of offense, 107 coming on the ground.

Bauer says it was a tough loss to take. "For the 9 years that I've been here, this is knockdown drag out. So it's fun to be a part of rivalry game like this, but not when you lose by one point with the ball on the three yard line."

Wisner-Pilger (0-3) is at Hartington Cedar Catholic (3-0) Friday night.

The Trojans won 62-8 at Twin River last time out.

Hartington Cedar Catholic is good, but they have yet to really be challenged.

The Gators are dealing with injuries and that has slowed them down some, but if Wisner-Pilger figures out their offense, who knows what will happen.

The Gators have been fairly respectable on defense this year, it's just been their offense that's let them down in games.

It's tough to regather yourself and get back up on that horse after a loss to a rival, but Wisner-Pilger has to regroup and realize there's still a lot of season left.

The Gators have to keep fighting and believe that they can win Friday night.

The Trojans are a real solid team, but in order to be the best you have to beat the best.

Wisner-Pilger didn't do all that bad against Crofton, and like I said, if the Gators can figure things out offensively, they can pick up their first win Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to punch the ball in the end zone when they have the chance though. The Gators have to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and run the ball with authority while mixing in the pass game.

Wisner-Pilger has to slow down Hartington Cedar Catholic's run game, and take the fight to the Trojans.

The Gators have to play inspired football Friday night. Wisner-Pilger has to play to win instead of not to lose.

The Gators have to go into this game expecting to get the job done rather than hoping to win.
