Winnebago wins first game of year
The Winnebago Indians picked up their first win of the season Friday night, winning 92-66 at Omaha Christian Academy.
The Indians gave up 585 yards of total offense, including 368 through the air.
It had to be a really good feeling for Winnebago to pick up that first win despite the amount of yards they gave up.
The Indians (1-3) are at Pender (2-2) Friday night.
The Pendragons won 60-8 at Homer in their last game, and have been on a terror their last couple of games.
Pender beat Wakefield 46-22 and the Trojans downed Winnebago 91-42 if that tells you anything.
I feel the Indians are a better team now than they were when they played Wakefield, but I would say the Pendragons are getting better every week as well.
Winnebago has a difficult challenge on their hands without a doubt, but the Indians have to have the confidence necessary to score a lot of points and slow down Pender's offense.
Winnebago has to key on Dylan Roth and James Bensen. If the Indians can slow those two down, they could have a chance to make things close and win.
Much easier said than done though as Roth and Bensen are really good players.
Winnebago has to play with swagger, and a belief that they can win Friday night.
It's never easy winning on the road, but the Indians have to go into this game feeling good and optimistic about their chances.
I think winning last week is definitely going to help Winnebago's confidence and chances of winning this week than if they had lost.
The Indians have to fight and play hard, and do what they can to be competitive and win.
Winnebago has to give it their all for 48 minutes, and see what happens.
The Indians are probably going to need to strike early and often in this game to have a shot.
Winnebago's offense is most likely going to need to carry the team, especially if the defense is having another tough night.
