Winnebago loses to Hartington-Newcastle

The Winnebago Indians fell 68-28 at home to Hartington-Newcastle Friday night.

The Wildcats led 12-0 after one. The Indians outscored Hartington-Newcastle 16-14 in the second quarter to make it a 26-16 game at halftime.

The Wildcats had a huge third quarter, erupting for 28 points and holding Winnebago to 6. The score after three was 54-22 in favor of Hartington-Newcastle.

The Wildcats won the fourth quarter 14-6 to make up the final score.

The Indians played well for a half, and that's definitely a positive to take away from the loss moving forward.

Winnebago (0-3) is at Omaha Christian Academy (0-3) Friday night.

The Eagles lost 66-62 at Cedar Bluffs a couple of weeks back.

Omaha Christian Academy will have had a couple of weeks to prepare for the Indians so that should help them out tremendously.

For Winnebago, it's all about playing four quarters of football.

The Indians played well for three quarters against Hartington-Newcastle, it was just one quarter that ultimately made the difference in the game.

Winnebago's defense has to come up big if the Indians want to pick up their first win of the season.

The offense should be there, but the real question figures to be can Winnebago slow down the Eagles' offense?

Omaha Nation held Omaha Christian Academy to 8 points so it's certainly possible.

I think the Indians could very well put things all together against the Eagles.

Winnebago has been improving each week, and the Indians are due for a win.

I think the game will be tight and close throughout, but I think Winnebago is definitely capable of prevailing.

The Indians have to really want this game. This is one of Winnebago's best chances at picking up a win.

The Indians have to outwork and outhustle Omaha Christian Academy. Winnebago has to tackle well on defense, and explode for big plays on offense.

The ability to take care of the ball, sustain drives, and limit penalties figures to be a big keys for the Indians as well.

Winnebago has to come through in the clutch, and make plays when it matters most.

Clock management could be big in a game like this also so the Indians have to manage the game properly from that standpoint.
