Howells-Dodge falls at Neligh-Oakdale

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars lost 47-36 at Neligh-Oakdale Friday night.

The Warriors led 16-12 after one before the Jaguars won the second quarter 12-11 to make it a 27-24 game at halftime.

Howells-Dodge blanked Neligh-Oakdale 6-0 in the third quarter to go up 30-27 at the end of three.

The Warriors outscored the Jaguars 20-6 in the fourth quarter.

Dax VanLengen was 12-26 passing for 215 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Jordan Brichacek made 8 receptions for 183 yards, and scored once.

Dylan Horejsi ran for 86 yards on 16 carries, and scored twice.

Kade Hegemann and Connor Blum made 12 tackles each for Howells-Dodge. Brichacek had 8 while Ely Hendrickson made 7.

The Jaguars had 326 yards of total offense, including 215 passing.

The defense gave up 497 yards of offense, 254 of that passing.

Howells-Dodge certainly had their struggles defensively, but I thought the Jaguars played a good game on offense and as a whole.

Howells-Dodge (2-2) is at Elgin Public/Pope John (0-5) Friday night.

The Wolfpack lost 46-8 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family last time out.

This should be an easy win for the Jaguars with the clock continuously running in the second half perhaps.

Howells-Dodge played well for the most part against Neligh-Oakdale, and I just don't see the Jaguars having a letdown against Elgin Public/Pope John.

VanLengen has to have a solid game passing the ball like he did against the Warriors, and Horejsi needs to have a good game running the ball as well.

Howells-Dodge can't afford to take the Wolfpack lightly, and I don't think they will.

I think the Jaguars have what it takes to win their last four regular season games.

Howells-Dodge has Elgin Public/Pope John, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, Homer, and Clarkson/Leigh left.

I feel the Jaguars are very capable of winning all four of those games, and finishing the regular season 6-2.

I don't want to get too ahead of myself though so first things first, Howells-Dodge has to take care of business against the Wolfpack.

The Jaguars have to come out and lay the smackdown against Elgin Public/Pope John.

Howells-Dodge has to come out and dominate from start to finish, and leave no doubt.

The Jaguars have to simply take care of business, and win in the fashion they are capable of.

Howells-Dodge has to play a complete, four quarter game, and get a lot of players playing time.
