North Bend Central picks up win at Tekamah-Herman
The North Bend Central Tigers picked up their second win of the season Friday night, winning 35-13 at Tekamah-Herman.
North Bend Central led 7-0 at the end of one and outscored Tekamah-Herman 21-0 in the second quarter to take a 28-0 lead into the locker room.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. Tekamah-Herman won the fourth quarter 13-7.
Joel Hines was 9-15 passing for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
Dawson Poessnecker brought in 3 passes for 68 yards, and scored once.
Hines rushed for 85 yards on 13 carries, and scored once, while Poessnecker had 57 yards on 17 carries, and punched it in twice on the ground.
North Bend Central had 321 yards of total offense, including 164 through the air.
The defense gave up 297 yards of offense, including 174 on the ground.
Head Coach Ryan Stieren. "We came out and played really well in the first half, scoring 28 points and giving up 0. The second half we did some good things but I believe we did not come out with the desire to put them away. Putting together a four quarter game is something that we need to do to be successful in our future contests. Wins have not been easy to come by so I am really happy for the kids but we need to continue to learn and improve."
The Tigers (2-1) host Madison (0-2) Friday night.
The Dragons lost 28-3 at home to Ord last time out.
This is another one of those games that North Bend Central should win.
Madison has had a tough season so far, and the Tigers appear to be a team on the rise.
I look for North Bend Central to win by two or three touchdowns, and improve their record to 3-1.
I say that with caution and respect to the Dragons though because I know I said I thought the Tigers would beat West Point-Beemer and they didn't, so it just goes to show anything can happen.
North Bend Central has to work on playing a complete, four quarter game.
North Bend Central played well for a half and did enough to beat Tekamah-Herman, but it's going to take a complete game to beat the likes of Wahoo, Bishop Neumann, and David City Aquinas.
The Tigers need to play well Friday night to prepare for those tough district games.
North Bend Central has done well so far this season, but has to keep it up.
The Tigers have continue to play tough, solid football, and must keep getting better.
North Bend Central has a week off before taking on the Warriors so the Tigers need to have a good showing against the Dragons to gain some momentum heading into the bye week and the week leading up to the game against Wahoo.
A complete game would go a long ways in preparing this team to win big games in the future, in my opinion.
Great and elite teams play four complete quarters of football to win games, and that's what the Tigers must do to become one of those teams, in my opinion.
