Clarkson/Leigh falls to Guardian Angels Central Catholic
The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots lost 64-20 at home to Guardian Angels Central Catholic last Friday night.
GACC led 30-14 at the end of one. The Bluejays shutout the Patriots 20-0 in the second quarter to lead 50-14 at halftime.
GACC outscored Clarkson/Leigh 14-6 in the third quarter to make up the final score. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
Jacob Gall had 196 yards rushing on 27 carries, including two touchdowns. Bradley Bunner finished with 67 yards rushing on 20 attempts.
The Patriots finished with 269 yards rushing.
Bunner was held in check, and I thought that was the biggest difference in this game. Had he gone off I think Clarkson/Leigh could have won. Gall did some really nice things though so if the Patriots can get both of them going, look out.
Clarkson/Leigh (1-1) hosts Omaha Nation (1-2) Friday night.
The Chiefs lost 80-28 to Howells-Dodge this past Friday night.
The Patriots should be able to rebound nicely from the loss to the Bluejays.
GACC is an exceptional team, and I don't think Omaha Nation is anywhere near GACC's level.
Bunner needs to have a big game as does Gall.
I'm willing to bet Clarkson/Leigh has been chomping at the bit to get back out on the field since losing to the Bluejays.
I'm sure the off week has been nice for the Patriots to heal up and stuff like that, but I would imagine Clarkson/Leigh didn't really need the off week to prepare for the Chiefs.
The Patriots should be able to roll to a big win pretty easily. I don't think Clarkson/Leigh will be challenged by Omaha Nation whatsoever.
I think the Chiefs are an improved team in many ways, but playing the Patriots on their home turf with an extra week of preparation is just going to be too much for Omaha Nation to overcome, in my opinion.
I'm sure Clarkson/Leigh will be frustrated by what took place against GACC, and will want to get back out there and show everyone they're a better team than what they showed against the Bluejays, and I look for the Patriots to do just that against the Chiefs.
