Tekamah-Herman loses at Ponca

The Tekamah-Herman Tigers couldn't make it 2-0 as the Tigers lost 53-6 at Ponca Friday night.

The Indians led the Tigers 35-0 after the first quarter and shutout Tekamah-Herman 12-0 in the second quarter to lead 47-0 at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. Both teams scored 6 points in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers had 120 yards of total offense, 93 coming on the ground.

Head Coach Graig McElmuray says the Indians are for real. "Ponca is a good team that is going to be in a tough district this year. They will continue to play well."

Tekamah-Herman (1-1) looks to rebound Friday night when they host North Bend Central (1-1) in their home opener.

North Bend Central lost 19-13 at home to West Point-Beemer last time out.

I think this is a toss up game if you ask me. I really could see things going either way.

I think the game being in Tekamah helps Tekamah-Herman, but I still expect the game to be tight and close nonetheless.

This game is a big deal for both teams. The winning team will be guaranteed to be no worse than .500 heading into district play.

This game is also a big deal because of the hardships both these teams have gone through the past 2-3 years.

Neither team has won a whole lot recently so whoever wins this game will no doubt be feeling pretty good about themselves.

Tekamah-Herman has to want it more than North Bend Central. Tekamah-Herman has to play the way they did against Omaha Brownell-Talbot, and not Ponca.

Both teams are coming off a loss so it will be interesting to see which team has shaken last week off.

North Bend Central is a C-1 team, and I think that kind of gives them an advantage in a way, but the game being in Tekamah should offset an advantage for either team.
