Clarkson/Leigh steamrolls Omaha Nation

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots cruised to an easy 56-14 home win over Omaha Nation Friday night.

Clarkson/Leigh led 20-0 at the end of one and outscored the Chiefs 28-0 in the second quarter to take a 48-0 lead into the locker room.

Both Omaha Nation and Clarkson/Leigh scored 8 third quarter points. The Chiefs notched 6 points in the fourth quarter compared to none for the Patriots.

Bradley Bunner had 10 carries for 186 yards and five touchdowns. Hector Mendoza added 65 yards on 17 carries.

Tim Zimmerman made 12 tackles while Haden Held registered 10.

Clarkson/Leigh amassed 272 yards of offense.

I thought the Patriots played a really good game Friday night. Bunner stepped up and led this team the way he is capable of.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-1) is at East Butler (1-2) Friday night.

The Tigers won 50-40 at Johnson-Brock last time out.

East Butler is a good team, don't let their record fool you.

The Tigers lost a couple of close games to Howells-Dodge and Nebraska City Lourdes.

The key to this game is Bunner, in my opinion. If he goes off, the Patriots should be in good shape.

But if he doesn't go off, like was the case against GACC, Clarkson/Leigh could be in trouble.

The Patriots are definitely capable winning this game though.

Clarkson/Leigh just has to get creative in their ways to get Bunner the ball as you can bet East Butler will do everything in their power to slow him down.

The Patriots need to have a good game plan if they are to beat the Tigers, in my opinion.

I think Clarkson/Leigh is capable of winning, I just don't see it being easy.

I'm fully expecting things to be close and tight throughout. If this game is decided by more than a touchdown I would be fairly surprised.

Howells-Dodge knocked off East Butler on the road so that has to give hope to the Patriots and inspire them to beat the Tigers as well.

Clarkson/Leigh has to step things up offensively the way they did against Pender, and have another solid defensive performance like they did against Omaha Nation.

Perhaps the off week allowed the Patriots to figure some things out defensively so it will be interesting to see if Clarkson/Leigh's efforts on that side of the ball against the Chiefs carry over to this coming Friday night.

The Patriots have to do their best to slow down East Butler Quarterback Dalton Bohac and running back Carter Stara.

If Clarkson/Leigh's offense and defense are both clicking the way they did against Omaha Nation, the Patriots are going to be awfully tough to beat.
