BRLD tops Wisner-Pilger
The Bancroft-Rosalie-Lyons-Decatur Wolverines knocked off Wisner-Pilger 56-16 at home Friday night.
Montana Riecken had 19 carries for 187 yards rushing with two touchdowns while going 10-15 passing for 180 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
Jon Christiansen had 118 yards on just 5 carries, including a score, while Jacob Zuhlke rushed for 83 yards on 24 carries, and scored once.
Christiansen hauled in 4 passes for 86 yards and scored twice while Tyler Kroger made two receptions for 54 yards.
The Wolverines had 585 yards of total offense, including 405 on the ground. The defense gave up 213 yards of total offense, including 199 through the air.
BRLD (3-4) is at Fremont Bergan (4-3) Friday night.
The Knights won 49-0 at home over Tekamah-Herman this past Friday night.
This is a big game for the district race. The Wolverines have to hope they can win and have Bergan knock off Oakland-Craig, creating a three-way tie.
The tie breaker then would still probably go to Oakland-Craig based on record, but at least BRLD can say they tied for the district championship.
There's still a real slight chance the Wolverines could win the district outright, but that's not likely.
For the most part, this game is about pride and building for next year.
BRLD has played great football the second half of the season, and a win over Bergan would only solidify that.
I look for the Wolverines to put forth a great effort Friday night, and play the Knights tough.
I think this game is going to be very physical for all four quarters, and it will be blow for blow with two juggernauts going at one another.
I look for both teams to pound the rock for four quarters, and mix in the passing game as well.
Both teams are playing great football right now, and I fully expect this game to come down to the wire.
It would be a big deal for BRLD to win, and I think the Wolverines are definitely capable of getting the job done.
The Wolverines have to run the ball the way they did against Wisner-Pilger. The way BRLD got different backs involved in the run game against the Gators was great.
Riecken has to have a huge game passing and running for the Wolverines, and Christiansen and Zuhlke need to be on top of their games running and passing wise, but if BRLD can get everyone to click on all cylinders like they have been lately, then the Wolverines stand a good chance to win Friday night.
BRLD can't be intimidated by the pride and tradition of Bergan. These two schools have a lot of pride and tradition of their own.
