Clarkson/Leigh falls to Neligh-Oakdale

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots lost 61-12 at home to Neligh-Oakdale Friday night.

The Warriors led 34-0 at the end of one and won the second quarter 14-12 to take a 48-12 lead into the locker room.

Neligh-Oakdale added 7 points in the third quarter to make it a 55-12 game at the end of three.

The Warriors blanked Clarkson/Leigh 6-0 in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Bruhn had 137 yards rushing on 22 carries, and scored once. Bruhn added 60 yards on 5-15 passing, but had three interceptions.

Bradley Bunner made 10 tackles.

The Patriots amassed 230 yards of offense, 170 coming on the ground.

The defense gave up 392 yards of offense, including 217 through the air.

I was surprised the Patriots lost this game the way they did. Bunner only carrying the ball twice really surprises me....unless he got hurt.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-3) is at Elgin Public/Pope John (0-6) Friday night.

The Wolfpack lost 58-8 at home to Howells-Dodge last time out.

This should be a win for the Patriots, but Clarkson/Leigh needs Bunner.

Perhaps the first quarter onslaught by Neligh/Oakdale was due to the Patriots being bummed about the East Butler game, but either way I thought the game would be a lot closer.

Clarkson/Leigh has to rediscover themselves in this game.

The Patriots have been up and down in their three losses and one of their wins.

It's all about becoming a better and more consistent football team if you are Clarkson/Leigh.

The good news is Elgin Public/Pope John is winless, and the Wolfpack is a team the Patriots can definitely gain confidence against.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to win Friday night, setting up an interesting game with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family next week.

The Bulldogs have won three in a row after dropping their last two contests so I don't think they will be an easy team for the Patriots.

I don't want to get too ahead of myself though. Clarkson/Leigh needs to take care of business against Elgin Public/Pope John.

The Patriots need to win, and win big, in a big way.

This really is a must win game for Clarkson/Leigh.

This is a game the Patriots absolutely cannot afford to drop. And I don't think Clarkson/Leigh will lose, but there has to be a sense of urgency amongst the players.

This is the most important time of the year for the Patriots, and Clarkson/Leigh needs to step up and perform well in the rest of their games this season.

This game with the Wolfpack isn't a big game in terms of a matchup, but it's super critical to the Patriots' season as a whole.
