GACC tops Winnebago

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays beat Winnebago 67-34 on the road Friday night.

The Bluejays led 13-8 after one and outscored the Indians 32-6 in the second quarter to take a 45-14 lead into the locker room.

GACC shutout Winnebago 6-0 in the third quarter to lead 51-14 after three.

The Indians won the fourth quarter 20-16.

Nolan Plagge carried the ball 14 times for 162 yards, and scored six times. Jared Minnick added 154 yards rushing on 19 carries, and scored twice.

Plagge went 5-8 passing and had 63 yards.

Connor Klitz notched 10 tackles while Michael Baumert had 9.

The Bluejays totaled 416 yards of offense, including 353 on the ground.

The defense gave up 424 yards of offense, 353 coming through the air.

The Bluejays played a great second quarter. GACC really got their offense going in that second frame.

The Bluejays (7-0) host Pender (4-3) for the district championship Friday night.

The Pendragons knocked off Omaha Nation 70-24 at home last time out.

GACC defeated the Chiefs 50-6 back on September 23rd.

This is a toss up game between Pender and GACC if you ask me.

The difference is the Bluejays have stepped up in their big games this season while the Pendragons have not.

GACC hasn't had the most difficult schedule, but here the Bluejays are, 7-0 with a chance to win another district title and finish another regular season undefeated.

This is what GACC wants to be playing for. A district title and a high playoff seed.

All of the Bluejays' goals are out in front of them. GACC has to go out there and get it done.

Plagge and Minnick must have the same type of success against Pender that they had against Winnebago.

The Bluejays must also do a better job of slowing down Pendragons' Quarterback Dylan Roth than they did Indians' Quarterback Cedrick Blackdeer.

James Bensen is another player GACC has to watch out for.

This is a scary game for GACC in a way, but I think the Bluejays can definitely come through and win.

GACC has to play four quarters of football, and keep playing hard regardless of what the score is.

One quarter could make the difference in this game so the Bluejays have to keep their heads up and continue to battle regardless of if they are winning or losing.
