Oakland-Craig downs Logan View

Oakland-Craig improved to 6-1 on the season with a 28-6 home win over Logan View Friday night.

Hoss Smith accounted for 206 yards rushing on 22 carries, including two scores.

Ben Ward and Marcos Quintero had 7 tackles apiece for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig totaled 280 yards of offense, including 260 on the ground. The defense gave up 150 yards of total offense, including 96 through the air.

I thought the Knights played a solid game Friday night. Oakland-Craig ran the ball very effectively.

The Knights are at Tekamah-Herman (1-6) Friday night.

The Tigers lost 49-0 at Fremont Bergan this past Friday night.

Tekamah-Herman has had a tough go of things since the first game of the season.

The Tigers have had trouble scoring, and that figures to be a good thing for Oakland-Craig's defense, who is no doubt licking their chops.

The Knights have to come out focused and determined to take care of business against Tekamah-Herman.

Oakland-Craig can't let the Tigers hang in there and think to themselves "we have a chance to win this game."

The Knights have to put away Tekamah-Herman early, and leave no doubt.

Oakland-Craig controls their own destiny as far as the district and playoffs are concerned, and could still win the district next week even with a loss this week, but the Knights don't want to falter against the Tigers.

It's highly unlikely Oakland-Craig will lose so there's really nothing for the Knights to worry about.

Still though Oakland-Craig needs to play well to keep building confidence and momentum for the playoffs.

The Knights are no doubt gearing up for another big postseason run, and putting away and beating teams like Tekamah-Herman soundly is important for success down the line.

I look for Smith to have another big game running the ball, and perhaps Evan Reinert can get some things going in the passing game.

I think Oakland-Craig is going to have to throw the ball at some point to beat some teams in the playoffs, should they make it, and even against Fremont Bergan next week.

So with that said, I feel this game is a perfect opportunity for the Knights to get their passing game back on track and rolling.

A balanced attack would be a really good sign for Oakland-Craig, especially with the regular season winding down.
