Clarkson/Leigh drops game to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family
The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots fell 58-14 at home to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night.
Isaak Wiese had 74 yards rushing on 7 carries while Jacob Gall carried the ball 13 times for 66 yards.
Clarkson/Leigh racked up 241 yards of total offense, including 203 rushing.
The defense surrendered 370 yards of total offense, 260 coming on the ground.
The good news is Bradley Bunner played for the Patriots. He had 7 rushes for 45 yards and a touchdown so hopefully he will be back at full strength for the regular season finale against Howells-Dodge.
Clarkson/Leigh (3-4) takes on the Jaguars (5-2) on the road Friday night.
Howells-Dodge won 38-8 at Homer this past Friday night.
The Jaguars figure to be the favorite to win this game, but if Bunner is 100% then I think the Patriots have a chance to make this game interesting.
Clarkson/Leigh's defense has to be up to the task of slowing down Dylan Horejsi and Dax VanLengen.
Those two are two of Howells-Dodge's bigger weapons, and the Patriots must step up and slow them down if they hope to win.
Bunner needs to have a huge game and his supporting cast has to step up as well.
I'm surprised the Patriots didn't play the Bulldogs closer than they did. I think Clarkson/Leigh is a much better team than what they showed Friday night.
The Patriots are pretty much safely in the playoffs win or lose, but a victory over the Jaguars would give Clarkson/Leigh a low seed.
If the Patriots lose to Howells-Dodge they will most likely be a really low seed and draw a really difficult first round opponent.
This is a rivalry game, and anything can happen.
Clarkson/Leigh has to get up for this game and put last week's performance behind them.
Last week was last week, and this is a new week, so the Patriots are certainly capable of turning things around this time around.
Clarkson/Leigh has really struggled down the stretch, losing three out of their last four, but there's no doubt the Patriots are capable of competing with and perhaps beating the Jaguars.
Howells-Dodge is a real solid team, and Clarkson/Leigh is going to have to play exceptionally better on both offense and defense to win, in my opinion.
If the Patriots play the way they did last week it's going to be awfully difficult for them to beat the Jaguars.
