Oakland-Craig cruises to easy win over Tekamah-Herman
The Oakland-Craig Knights beat Tekamah-Herman 48-0 on the road Friday night.
The Knights led 28-0 after the first quarter and blanked the Tigers 20-0 in the second quarter to lead 48-0 at the break.
Neither team scored in the second half.
Jared Mulder was 8-12 passing for 211 yards with three touchdowns.
Kobe Benne caught 2 touchdown passes for 82 yards. Garrett Seagren hauled in 3 passes for 75 yards, including a score.
Hoss Smith had 152 yards rushing on 12 carries, including three scores.
Oakland-Craig accumulated 429 yards of total offense, including 245 passing.
I thought the Knights played a great game. Mulder and Smith had fantastic games. Oakland-Craig did what they needed to do, which was put away Tekamah-Herman in the first half.
Oakland-Craig (7-1) hosts Fremont Bergan (5-3) Friday night for the District Championship.
Bergan has won four in a row since starting the season 1-3.
This game is for all the marbles. A district championship and a guaranteed berth into the playoffs.
Oakland-Craig is likely in the playoffs win or lose, but Bergan needs to win to get in.
You can bet Bergan will be playing like there's no tomorrow, because if they lose, there's not.
I fully expect Oakland-Craig to get Bergan's best shot.
With that said, I think Oakland-Craig will win.
Oakland-Craig appears to have figured some things out in the passing game with Mulder, and if he starts for Oakland-Craig again, Bergan is going to have their hands full trying to slow him and Smith down.
It's championship football time, and I expect Oakland-Craig to be at their best.
Oakland-Craig is currently sitting 6th in power points, and would no doubt like to improve their playoff seed.
A win would do that, but a loss would definitely make for a more difficult first round playoff matchup.
With all this said, I look for Oakland-Craig to find a way to win.
Oakland-Craig is well coached, and has found ways to win big games time and time again in the past.
That's why I look for Oakland-Craig to answer the bell again and come through in the clutch.
This game will no doubt be a good playoff prep game for Oakland-Craig. OC will see teams just as good if not better than Bergan in the playoffs.
