North Bend Central falls at Wahoo

The North Bend Central Tigers fell 60-0 at the hands of the Wahoo Warriors in Wahoo Friday night.

The Warriors led 34-0 after one. Wahoo shutout North Bend Central 12-0 in the second quarter to lead 46-0 at halftime.

The Warriors put up 7 third quarter points compared to none for the Tigers to make it a 53-0 game at the end of three.

Wahoo notched 7 fourth quarter points to make up the final score.

Dawson Poessnecker had 71 yards rushing on 11 carries for North Bend Central.

Brock Ray totaled 11 tackles.

The Tigers had 106 yards of total offense, 83 coming on the ground.

The defense gave up 349 yards of total offense, including 201 rushing.

Head Coach Ryan Stieren. "Coming into this game, I thought that we were ready to take on a team like Wahoo but they were too much for us. It's really the first game all year that we struggled defensively and on special teams. Our special teams gave up two punt returns for touchdowns and 2 others where they had big returns. Defensively, we got 1 stop against their top unit and offensively we only got 3 first downs against their top unit. Offensively, we had some chances but we just could not quite execute to take advantage. This week is another great opportunity to compete against another top level team and we are focused on improvement so that we can have more success this Friday."

North Bend Central (3-2) hosts David City Aquinas (5-1) Friday night.

The Monarchs won 56-0 at David City last time out.

This is going to be another really tough game for the Tigers.

North Bend Central can't allow the same type of first quarter onslaught they allowed against Wahoo.

I thought the Tigers were going to give the Warriors a better game, but North Bend Central got ransacked early.

I think the Tigers are capable of making things closer with David City Aquinas, but it's going to be tough.

Being at home should help North Bend Central though.

The Tigers have to come out and play smashmouth football, and can't be afraid of the Monarchs.

David City has a great team yet again this year, but I feel North Bend Central is still a team on the rise despite the Wahoo loss, and has a chance to be more competitive this week than they were last week.

I definitely think the Tigers are a much better team than what they showed last week, and will respond and play better this week.

Beating Aquinas is an awful tall task, but the players have to believe it in their minds that they can upset the Monarchs.

Being competitive in games like these can go a long ways in turning a program around.

For the most part, North Bend Central has played good football this year, but for whatever reason, the Tigers really struggled last week.

It's super critical for North Bend Central to get off to a good start this week. The Tigers don't want to be out of things after the first quarter again.

It will be interesting to see how North Bend Central does this week. I think it's important for the Tigers to respond with a solid effort and a good showing.

North Bend Central needs as much momentum as possible heading into next week's game at Bishop Neumann.
