West Point-Beemer loses at Pierce
The West Point-Beemer Cadets really struggled Friday night, losing 39-6 at Pierce.
The Bluejays led 7-6 after one and at halftime after no one scored in the second quarter.
Things really got away from West Point-Beemer in the second half as Pierce scored 18 points in the third quarter to go up 25-6 after three, and added 14 points in the fourth quarter to make up the final score.
Cole Hughes was 5-16 passing for 78 yards with two interceptions.
Kade Hughes hauled in two passes for 65 yards.
Kade Hughes added 7 tackles.
The Cadets had just 158 yards of total offense, 80 coming on the ground.
It was a really tough second half for West Point-Beemer. The Cadets played well for a half, but appeared to run out of gas in the final 24 minutes of play.
West Point-Beemer (4-4) battles Norfolk Catholic (5-3) on the road Thursday night.
The Knights beat Wayne 56-35 at home Friday night.
The Cadets have to come ready to play Thursday night.
Yes West Point-Beemer is all but out of the playoff hunt, but the Cadets need to have good game playing habits heading into next season.
West Point-Beemer didn't play their best game against the Bluejays, and are a lot better than what they showed without a doubt.
I don't want to say the Cadets quit in the second half against Pierce, but they certainly could have.
West Point-Beemer has to suck it up and play better Thursday night.
Norfolk Catholic is a really good team once again this year with their losses coming to teams with a combined record of 23-1.
The Knights are the measuring stick for success in the state of Nebraska.
Year in and year out Norfolk Catholic is really good, and to be the best, you normally have to beat them.
The Cadets have to look at what O'Neill has done. The Eagles haven't always been this good, but they've built their program.
There's no reason West Point-Beemer can't do the same.
The Cadets have to go out there Thursday night and lay it all out on the line.
West Point-Beemer has to give it all they got, and do their best to beat the Knights.
The Cadets may not win, but West Point-Beemer has to give their best effort possible.
We will find out how much resolve this team has and how tough they are. It wouldn't be good for the Cadets to get blown out.
West Point-Beemer has to do everything in their power not to have a repeat of the second half of the Pierce game and the final 5+ minutes of the Wayne game.
