Emerson-Hubbard defeats Winside by forfeit

The Emerson-Hubbard Pirates defeated Winside by forfeit Friday night.

I don't know if having the week off will help or hurt Emerson-Hubbard this coming Friday night when the Pirates take on Wynot, but we will see.

Emerson-Hubbard (3-2) hosts the Blue Devils (4-1) Friday night.

Wynot defeated Wausa 62-14 at home last time out.

Based on that score, one would think the Blue Devils will win this game, but the game is in Emerson, plus the Pirates will have had an extra week to prepare for Wynot, so anything can happen.

Both teams are 2-0 in district play, and I feel this game will go a long ways in determining who wins the district.

Randolph still has to be considered a threat to win the district, but if Emerson-Hubbard upsets the Blue Devils then all sorts of crazy scenarios begin to pop up.

The Pirates no doubt want to win their last three games of the regular season, and while anything is possible, it's going to be tough.

I feel that Randolph and Wynot are a little ahead of Emerson-Hubbard right now, but I think the Pirates can definitely beat Allen and finish the regular season 4-4.

That's kind of what I'm thinking will happen with this team, and hopefully that's enough to sneak into the playoffs.

I've been wrong before and certainly Emerson-Hubbard could go out there and prove me wrong, but that's just what I'm thinking will happen based on scores and who all three teams have lost to.

The Pirates must have the confidence necessary to compete with and beat the Blue Devils at home though.

Emerson-Hubbard's playoff chances are up in the air right now, and I think the Pirates might need to win two out of their last three games to get in.

Of course the most conventional thing would be to win the district and guarantee yourselves a playoff spot.

Tall task for Emerson-Hubbard, but certainly anything can happen.

The Pirates have to remain optimistic throughout the rest of the regular season and believe in themselves.

Emerson-Hubbard has to do their best to prove my projection wrong.
