Clarkson/Leigh drops Heartbreaker to GACC

The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team lost an absolute Heartbreaker at GACC Friday night, falling 36-30.

With the score tied at 30, the Patriots went for it on 4th and Goal from the 5-yard line, but didn't score.

And with 14 seconds left in the game GACC went for it instead of sitting on it.

The Bluejays threw a pass and completed it, and drew a personal foul late hit out of bounds call with no time left.

And so with no time left and one untimed down to score, GACC drew up a pass to Cody Steffen that went 38 yards for a touchdown.

Absolute back and heartbreaker for the Patriots.

Lance Paprocki had 122 yards rushing on 15 carries, and went 6-8 for 79 yards passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Eli Hays hauled in 5 passes for 104 yards, scoring two touchdownns. He also added 61 yards rushing on 11 carries, and scored twice.

Trevor Zulkoski had 14 tackles while Hays made 10. Carter Hanel had 9 while Mitchel Beeson notched 7.

Clarkson/Leigh had 305 yards of total offense, including 190 rushing.

The Patriots (2-3) take on Madison (0-5) on the road Friday night.

The Dragons lost 42-0 at Howells-Dodge last week.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to bounce back and win big Friday night.

I think the Patriots will be very upset and angry given what happened and how they lost last week.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to be motivated and to come out and light things up on Friday.

These next two games, assuming next week's game against Wisner-Pilger gets played, are must wins for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh can't afford to lose to either the Dragons or Gators.

Injuries have hit the Patriots in a very unfortunate way this year, but Clarkson/Leigh has to make the most of what they have left and try and have as much success as possible the rest of the season.

The Patriots have been dealt some very devastating and heartbreaking and gutwrenching blows this year, but Clarkson/Leigh has to keep fighting and cannot give up.
