Emerson-Hubbard falls at home to Homer

The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team fell 54-20 at home to Homer Friday night.

The Knights led 14-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, and 41-14 at halftime.

Homer won the 3rd quarter 13-0 to go up 54-14 at the end of three.

The Pirates blanked the Knights 6-0 in the 4th quarter.

Brock Mackling was 6-14 passing for 82 yards with an interception.

Mason Hall and Ryan Kinnaman made 7 tackles apiece.

Emerson-Hubbard had 233 yards of total offense, including 151 rushing.

The defense gave up 398 yards of total offense, including 255 passing.

The effort was there from the Pirates, Emerson-Hubbard just didn't get the result they wanted and were looking for.

The Pirates (1-5) take on Pender (3-3) on the road Friday night.

The Pendragons blew out Walthill 67-16 on the road last week.

This is a rivalry game for Emerson-Hubbard, and while it is going to be tough, I think the Pirates have a chance to make this one closer than if they were playing just any old regular opponent.

Chances to win ball games as the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates are getting to be nearly gone.

It's the rest of this season and next and then the Co-op with Allen takes effect.

Emerson-Hubbard has to come out and play with some fight and pride come Friday night.

The Pirates have to try and slow down the Pendragons' run game.

I think run defense is going to be absolutely critical and vital for Emerson-Hubbard in this one.

The Pirates have to slow down Pender's running attack to have any chance of winning this one, in my opinion.

And that all starts with wrapping up and tackling Dylan Vogt and Caleb Trimble.

Emerson-Hubbard has to limit big plays in the run game and try and stack the box and make the Pendragons beat them with their passing game.

If the Pirates do that then they could be successful, in my opinion.

I know Emerson-Hubbard gave up a lot of passing yards to Homer, but I feel like making Pender throw the ball gives the Pirates the best chance of winning.

Emerson-Hubbard simply has to play their hearts out and play with the heart of a champion and leave it all out on the field come Friday night.
