Pender blows out Walthill

The Pender Football Team routed Walthill 67-16 on the road Friday.

The Blujays jumped out to an 8-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter before the Pendragons outscored them 28-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-16 lead into the locker room.

It was all Pender in the 2nd half as the Pendragons blanked Walthill 20-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 48-16 at the end of three, and 19-0 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.

Caleb Trimble had 17 carries for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Krusemark ran the ball 4 times for 79 yards, and scored once. Braxton Volk was 9-11 passing for 91 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Jacob Bruns made 8 tackles.

Pender had 424 yards of total offense, 330 coming on the ground.

The defense surrendered 180 yards of total offense, including 113 on the ground.

Slow start for the Pendragons, but Pender won going away.

The Pendragons (3-3) host Emerson-Hubbard (1-5) Friday night.

The Pirates fell 54-20 at home to Homer last week.

I feel like this game has the potential to be close.

Reason being it is a rivalry game.

Pender started off slow last week, and if the Pendragons are to win this week I think they need to get off to a much faster start against Emerson-Hubbard.

There's something about rivalry games being close you could say.

And that's not to say that Pender is going to lose or win by narrowly escaping, it's just saying that this game could be closer than if the Pendragons were playing just another team.

So Pender has to come ready to hit and get after it Friday night.

This is the last home game of the regular season for the Pendragons, and could be the last time these seniors ever play a game on their home field.

Pender has to make things count Friday night, and go out there and pick up a big win.

The Pendragons need a big victory to feel even better about themselves heading into next week's regular season finale at Homer.
