Pender handles Homer in regular season finale

The Pender Football Team picked up a 49-20 victory at Homer in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Pendragons led 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored the Knights 20-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-7 lead into the locker room.

Pender shutout Homer 22-0 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 49-7 at the end of three.

The Knights blanked the Pendragons 13-0 in the 4th quarter.

Dylan Vogt had 28 carries for 280 yards and 5 touchdowns. Braxton Volk was 2-3 passing for 56 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Trimble caught 4 passes for 60 yards, and scored once.

Pender had 409 yards of total offense, including 339 on the ground.

The defense gave up 193 yards of total offense, including 149 passing.

It appears as if the run defense for the Pendragons was very stout.

Pender (5-3) battles Osceola (7-0) in the first round of the playoffs at Osceola Thursday night.

The Bulldogs won 77-0 at High Plains Friday night.

Osceola is very good, having dominated every single opponent they've played.

Heck they even put up 100 on Nebraska Lutheran.

After all, Osceola and High Plains won a State Championship together last year as the Osceola/High Plains Storm Dogs.

So I'm sure a lot of kids from that team will be playing in this game come Thursday night.

Vogt has to go out there and tear things up and have a huge game for the Pendragons.

Pender needs him to step up and play and perform well Thursday night.

In order to be the best you have to beat the best, and that certainly holds true for the Pendragons Thursday night.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Osceola.
