Clarkson/Leigh falls at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family

The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team lost 44-14 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night.

The Bulldogs led 16-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored the Patriots 14-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-2 lead into the locker room.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family shutout Clarkson/Leigh 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 38-2 game at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The Patriots doubled up the Bulldogs 12-6 in the 4th quarter.

Lance Paprocki had 15 carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Jacob Gall carried the rock 16 times for 57 yards.

Gall made 13 tackles while Dillon Knapp totaled 7.

Clarkson/Leigh racked up 220 yards of total offense, including 205 rushing. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family totaled 317 yards of offense, 194 of them passing.

Anthony Bruhn was ineffective or limited or shutdown or may have gotten injured or something, but I would say not having him produce really affected the outcome of this game.

The Patriots (3-4) host rival Howells-Dodge (7-0) Friday night.

The Jaguars smoked Homer 56-15 at home this past Friday night.

Howells-Dodge won 70-14 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family two weeks ago.

So if both teams play the way they did against the Bulldogs then Clarkson/Leigh is most likely in deep, deep trouble.

But if Bruhn is healthy and plays then it could be a different story.

Either way, the Patriots need this game to ensure themselves a playoff spot, at least I think so.

It appears Clarkson/Leigh will get in the playoffs with a loss even, but nothing is for sure at this point.

Clarkson/Leigh had their chance last week, but who knows, perhaps the Patriots will shock the state and upset the Jaguars and earn at least a share of the District Title.

Clarkson/Leigh just has to go out there and play their tails off, and let the scoreboard take care of itself.

The Patriots have to play as if their season is on the line because the playoffs are not guaranteed..

At no point can Clarkson/Leigh give up.

The Patriots have to take care of the ball and limit penalties, and try and limit Howells-Dodge in the run and return games.

Clarkson/Leigh has to man up and stop the run, and try and force Dax VanLengen to beat them with his arm.

The Jaguars are a great team, but the Patriots have to go out there and play with reckless abandonment and no regard for human life.

Clarkson/Leigh has to go out there and smack Howells-Dodge in the mouth, and hit hard, and play physical, smashmouth Football.

The Patriots have to play with tremendous energy, heart, and hustle.

Clarkson/Leigh has to give the Jaguars everything they've got, and leave it all out on the field.

The Patriots have to play with tremendous pride and passion, and let their play take care of itself.

This is Clarkson/Leigh's chance at greatness.
