Pender up ends Omaha Nation
The Pender Football Team snapped their two-game losing streak Friday night, winning 66-38 at Omaha Nation.
Brady Oliver had 4 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown for the Pendragons while Jared Tyrell had 5 carries for 94 yards, and two scores.
Pender totaled 343 yards of offense, including 313 rushing.
I thought the Pendragons did a great job running the ball. Pender needs to have rushing performances like that every week.
The Pendragons (3-4) host GACC (7-0) in the regular season finale Thursday night.
The Bluejays stomped Winnebago 66-28 at home Friday night.
The same Indians team that beat Pender 60-42.
Needless to say, the Pendragons are going to need to play much better than they did in that game to come away with the win.
Pender's season is on the line as they're on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs.
The Pendragons need to win this one or their season is likely over.
Pender has to play with a sense of urgency and purpose Thursday night, and take it to GACC for four quarters.
The Pendragons have to win the battle at the line of scrimmage and be physical, and do all they can to try and slow down Jared Minnick and others.
Not giving up big runs and kick and punt returns to Minnick will be critical to Pender's success, in my opinion.
The Pendragons need to prevent big plays, and force the Bluejays to drive the length of the field and earn their points.
Pender has to assert themselves offensively, and give GACC a taste of their own medicine, which is running the ball down the Bluejays' throats.
The Pendragons could earn at least a share of the District Title by winning this game despite all their struggles this year so there is certainly a lot on the line and at stake for Pender.
Upsets happen all the time, and the Pendragons are certainly capable of going out there and making it happen.
GACC is already comfortably in the playoffs, but you know the Bluejays will bring their "A" game knowing how much they need to win to improve their playoff seeding, and be impressive prior to the postseason.
GACC has bigger aspirations this year than just winning this game I'm sure, but this game is Pender's season.
This is the Pendragons' playoff game, and perhaps the final hoorah for the seniors.
There could be no tomorrow for Pender so the Pendragons have to come out and play a whale of a game Thursday night.
