Tekamah-Herman loses big to Fremont Bergan
The Tekamah-Herman Football Team lost 48-0 at home to Fremont Bergan Friday night.
The Knights led 14-0 at the end of one, and blanked the Tigers 6-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-0 lead into the locker room.
Bergan shutout Tekamah-Herman 22-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 42-0 at the end of three.
The Knights put up 6 points in the final quarter, and held the Tigers scoreless.
Tekamah-Herman gave up 411 yards of total offense, including 407 on the ground.
Really difficult night for the Tigers. You won't win any games not scoring, and not many when you give up over 400 yards rushing.
Tekamah-Herman (1-6) travels to Oakland to take on Oakland-Craig (6-1) Friday night.
The Knights edged Logan View 18-14 on the road this past Friday night.
The good news for the Tigers is Oakland-Craig is more of passing team than a running ball club.
I say that's good news due to how many rushing yards Tekamah-Herman surrendered to Bergan.
The Tigers have to key on and try and slow down Evan Reinert, Garrett Seagren, and Kobe Benne.
Stopping those three, and Reinert and Seagren in particular, has to be a goal.
Tekamah-Herman also has to watch out for Ben Smith though. The Tigers can't fall asleep on him given his running ability.
If I'm Tekamah-Herman though, I play the pass and try and make the Knights beat me with the run.
Playing pass coverage and bringing timely blitzes will be critical to the Tigers' success, in my opinion.
Tekamah-Herman also need to get things going offensively. The Tigers have to establish a run game, and must find a way to hit some big pass plays.
Getting good returns in the kicking and punting game will be important too I feel.
The special teams and field position battle could factor into this contest.
Ultimately it comes down to the two teams lining up and going at one another and seeing who is better though.
Oakland-Craig has won the last 7 meetings between the two teams, and hasn't lost to Tekamah-Herman since 2005.
I don't know if that's going to change this year, but anything is possible if the Tigers turn in their best performance of the season.
Tekamah-Herman has to play better than they did last week if they hope to compete in and win this game.
The Tigers' performance against Bergan wasn't their best you could say.
