Emerson-Hubbard loses close game at Wynot

The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team competed well at Wynot Friday night, but fell 26-20.

The Pirates led 8-0 at the end of one before the Blue Devils outscored Emerson-Hubbard 14-6 in the 2nd quarter to tie the game at 14-all at halftime.

Wynot shutout the Pirates 6-0 in the 3rd quarter to lead 20-14 after three.

Both teams scored 6 points in the 4th quarter.

Emerson-Hubbard gave up 330 yards of offense, including 311 rushing.

Tough loss for the Pirates. A win might of secured a playoff spot for Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates (2-4) host Allen (4-2) Friday night.

The Eagles won 70-20 at home over Winside this past Friday night.

Wynot drilled Allen 62-12 back on September 22nd.

I think this is a game Emerson-Hubbard can win given how well they competed with the Blue Devils.

Now I'm sure the weather, the elements and all that, played a big role in the Wynot game, but the Pirates have to feel confident knowing they were so close to knocking off the Blue Devils.

With that said, this is a must win for Emerson-Hubbard. The Pirates must have this one to make the playoffs I would say.

Right now, Emerson-Hubbard is sitting 33rd in power points, and only the top 32 make the playoffs.

I would think the Pirates have a good shot to make the playoffs if they win one of their next two games, but it better be this one cause Emerson-Hubbard doesn't want to have to rely on going on the road and beating Randolph if they can help it I'm sure.

The Pirates faced a similar situation last year in that they needed a win over the Eagles. Well...same case here.

This is do or die for Emerson-Hubbard as far as I'm concerned.

I just don't think the Pirates can go into Randolph and beat the Cardinals so Emerson-Hubbard better take care of business against Allen Friday night.

If they do, it might be good enough to sneak into the playoffs although the Pirates wouldn't get a very good seed.

Still though it would be a big deal to make the playoffs, and play for another week at least.

Emerson-Hubbard has to come out and play inspired, fired up, and as if their season is on the line, because in all reality, it is.

The Pirates have to hit Allen hard, and set the tone for the game.

Emerson-Hubbard has to strike first like they did against Wynot, and continue to score.

The Eagles are a good team, but they haven't beaten anyone yet.

I think this game will be pretty close. I can see things going either way.

I look for the contest to be a shootout, unlike last year, when it was more of a defensive game.
