Winnebago routs Omaha Nation
The Winnebago Football Team blasted Omaha Nation 48-8 on the road Friday night.
Great win for the Indians. Winnebago showed the win over Pender was no fluke I would say.
The Indians (2-4) travel to GACC (6-0) Friday night in a game that will likely decide the District Championship.
The Bluejays shutout Homer 44-0 on the road this past Friday night.
The fact that Winnebago is playing for a district title is huge for this program.
This is the Indians' playoff game seeing as Winnebago is ineligible for the playoffs.
This is what the Indians have been playing for. Winnebago's season comes down to this one game.
The Indians have one more after this, but it would be the biggest accomplishment and feeling in the world to head into that last game with a chance to win the district outright I would say.
GACC will be very tough to beat, and Winnebago needs everything to go right to have a chance at the upset, in my opinion, but anything can happen.
I'm sure not many expected the Indians to beat Pender.
Of course the Pendragons are really struggling right now, and it's one thing to beat Pender, but it's another to upset the mighty Bluejays.
The game is in Beemer too so I would say that's an advantage for GACC.
With that said, Winnebago has nothing to lose.
The Indians should play fearless and take chances because again this is their playoff game.
All the pressure is on the Bluejays really.
Winnebago shouldn't play with any tension or nervousness whatsoever.
The Indians should play pressure free football, and just relax.
Winnebago still has to play and hit hard, but if anything the Indians should play with reckless abandonment.
The stage is set for Winnebago to shock the state and turn a lot of heads.
Now it's a matter of going out there and getting the job done and making it happen if you are the Indians.
