Emerson-Hubbard picks up win at Winside
The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team won 36-14 at Winside Friday night.
The Pirates led 6-0 at the end of one and at halftime. Emerson-Hubbard shutout the Wildcats 22-0 in the third quarter to lead 28-0 at the end of three.
The Pirates won the fourth quarter 14-8.
Emerson-Hubbard gave up 181 yards of total offense, including 120 through the air.
This was a good win for the Pirates. It was a game Emerson-Hubbard absolutely had to have.
The Pirates (2-3) travel to Wynot (3-2) Friday night to take on the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils won 56-34 at Wausa this past Friday night.
The Vikings defeated Emerson-Hubbard 48-22 in Emerson the Friday before that.
I don't think it's any secret the Pirates are going to need to play extremely well to beat Wynot.
I would say Emerson-Hubbard is going to have to play a perfect game to come out on top.
The Pirates are going to need to have the game of their lives to come away with a win in this one I would say.
Emerson-Hubbard is in the playoffs right now, and could possibly get in by just beating Allen, but the Pirates could really improve their seeding and ensure themselves a berth by winning out.
Not easy to win at Wynot and Randolph, but Emerson-Hubbard has to go into those games expecting to come out on top.
It's a mindset and a mentality the Pirates must have that culminates in a winning attitude and culture.
Emerson-Hubbard did some good things against the Wildcats...now they need to build on them and continue to improve.
The Pirates have to translate what they did on the field against Winside into what they do on the field against the Blue Devils.
One thing though...Emerson-Hubbard has to start much faster than they did against the Wildcats.
If the Pirates only score 6 points in a half against Wynot then they are in deep, deep trouble.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play a complete, four quarter game to come out on top, in my opinion.
The Pirates can't afford to have any bad quarters or halfs because if they do it could ultimately end up costing them the game.
Emerson-Hubbard has to come out ready to play smashmouth, physical football, and must give the Blue Devils their best shot and all they can handle, and then some.
The Pirates have to minimize mistakes, turnovers, and penalties, and force Wynot to drive the length of the field.
If Emerson-Hubbard gives up big plays they are in big trouble. The Pirates have to avoid letting the Blue Devils' offense go wild on them.
