Wisner-Pilger loses big at Oakland-Craig

The Wisner-Pilger Football team lost 61-12 at Oakland-Craig Friday night.

The Gators surrendered 507 yards of offense, including 267 rushing.

I thought Wisner-Pilger made progress on offense, but took some steps back on defense.

The Gators (0-6) host BRLD (2-4) Friday night.

The Wolverines won 50-14 at home over Tekamah-Herman this past Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to continue to focus on improving on offense, and has to find a way to be better defensively.

BRLD is nearly as good on offense as Oakland-Craig I would say so the Gators have to step things up and turn in the best performance possible Friday night.

These boys have to grow up as football players and young men as much as possible.

We're to the point in the season where these sophomores are no longer beginning sophomores. They're 6 games into their sophomore season.

I feel progress was made offensively last week, but the team has to grow up as a whole defensively.

That means being physical and stopping the run game, and containing Will Gatzemeyer as much as possible.

Wisner-Pilger has to continue to work hard in the weightroom and on the practice field, and work on getting stronger, being more physical, and hitting harder.

The Wolverines are known for their physical, smashmouth style of football so that's what the Gators need to try and become as well.

BRLD is a young team and has gotten a lot better as the season has gone along so that has to serve as motivation for Wisner-Pilger.

If the Wolverines can do what they're doing then so can the Gators. That has to be Wisner-Pilger's mindset from here on out and heading into next season.

The Gators must keep fighting and taking steps forward, and must turn in a better performance defensively this week.

Defense wins championships, and if Wisner-Pilger wants to get this thing turned around, they're ultimately going to need to play better on defense.

The Gators turned in their highest scoring output of the season this past Friday night so that has to be encouraging for Wisner-Pilger.
