Clarkson/Leigh shuts out Cedar Bluffs at home
The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team shutout Cedar Bluffs 66-0 at home Friday night.
The Patriots led 16-0 after one and blanked the Wildcats 28-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 44-0 lead into the locker room.
Clarkson/Leigh shutout Cedar Bluffs 16-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 60-0 at the end of three.
The Patriots won the 4th quarter 6-0.
Tommy McEvoy had 214 yards rushing on 13 carries, including four touchdowns. Lance Paprocki had 80 yards rushing on 9 carries, including a touchdown. Paprocki was 2-2 passing for 59 yards with a touchdown.
John Langhorst had 10 tackles while McEvoy notched 9.
Clarkson/Leigh had 475 yards of total offense, including 416 rushing.
Big time performance from the Patriots. Clarkson/Leigh looks like a team destined to make a playoff run.
The Patriots (4-2) host Mead (2-4) Friday night.
The Raiders lost 48-42 at home to Pender in Double Overtime Friday night.
The same Pendragon squad that Clarkson/Leigh beat 68-14 in Pender.
I look for the Patriots to crush Mead Friday night, just like they did Cedar Bluffs last week.
Clarkson/Leigh got it done not only offensively last week, but also defensively.
That was probably the Patriots' best overall performance of the season.
I feel Mead is a little better than Cedar Bluffs, but I still look for Clarkson/Leigh to win big.
The Patriots have to go out there and dominate and assert themselves, much like they have during this current 4-game winning streak.
Clarkson/Leigh can't let up in any way, and must continue to go out there and put in on Mead for 4 quarters.
This is a game where the Patriots need to be sharp, and must go out there and dominate in every facet of the game.
It's looking like the District could come down to Emerson-Hubbard and Clarkson/Leigh in the regular season finale.
The Patriots should be able to win their district barring any key injuries or things of that nature.
I feel Clarkson/Leigh is at an entirely different level than everyone else in the District right now.
The Patriots have to keep improving and getting better every week like they have been.
A couple more wins to close out the regular season would improve Clarkson/Leigh's playoff seeding without a doubt.
Right now the Patriots would be something like a 9 seed if the playoffs started today, but that figures to change based on how Clarkson/Leigh does in their final two regular season contests.
I really think the Patriots are a threat to do something in the postseason, and a win over Mead on Friday would be another positive step in the right direction.
Clarkson/Leigh has to keep on keepin on, and must continue to play at a high level on both sides of the ball.
