The defense gave up 182 yards of total offense, 179 coming through the air.

Dominating performance from the Gators. Wisner-Pilger played a complete game in this one it appears.

The Gators (6-1) take on Wakefield (5-2) on the road Friday night.

The Trojans won 74-14 at home over Winnebago last week.

Head Coach A.J. Burki doesn't want to make this game any bigger than it is. "I would like to say this is huge (which no doubt about it, this game is absolutely vital as we move toward the playoffs), but we are not going to let one game define us as a team either! If we win, great (total confidence builder), but we can't hang our hat on a single win during the regular season. If we lose, than we need to get back to the grind, work out the kinks, and move onto our next opponent. That's what's so great and exciting about the playoffs - everyone starts fresh and is 0-0."

Wisner-Pilger could play spoiler and earn a share of the District Title in the process by winning. Burki says a win would be a big deal. "I think more than anything a win against a top opponent like Wakefield, will provide validity to what we have been doing all season. It will be a great win, and honestly, we are excited to go out there, line em' up and play some football."

The Gators have certainly made their mark on 8-man football with all of their wins coming by double digits and the lone loss being to GACC. Burki says his squad has been building for this for quite a while. "I think more than anything, it's not that much about "adapting" to 8 man football, as it is about, the fact we took our lumps last year as an extremely young team in an overwhelmingly tough part of the state - with a difficult schedule. As a result we returned a number of starters that has provided us with much needed depth, a great deal of varsity experience, and a group of young men who worked hard in the off-season because they wanted to prove themselves to everyone. Furthermore, we have put a lot of focus on working to be a tough, hard nosed football team that plays great defense and controls the game and clock while we are on offense. So far, the boys have responded well to that mentality - but are still hungry - to become tougher yet. "

Wisner-Pilger's hard work is certainly paying off in a big way right now.

The Gators are one of the top teams in D-1 not just in this area but across the state, in my opinion.

Wisner-Pilger could really use a win to improve playoff seeding though as the Gators currently sit 15th overall in power points in D-1, which would be an 8 seed in the East right now most likely.

Wisner-Pilger just has to go out there and play their game and do what they do best, which is play Football.

The Gators don't have to do anything extraordinary or out of the ordinary...Wisner-Pilger just has to go out there and do what they've been doing all season.

The Gators are having a great season, and I think Wisner-Pilger is a very dangerous team that could create a lot of chaos before season's end, regardless of how Friday night's game turns out.
