Oakland-Craig edges Fremont Bergan

The Oakland-Craig Football Team won 26-20 at Fremont Bergan Friday night.

Oakland-Craig led 6-0 at the end of one before both teams scored 6 points in the 2nd quarter to make it a 12-6 game at halftime.

Oakland-Craig doubled up Bergan 14-7 in the 3rd quarter to lead 26-13 at the end of three.

Bergan notched 7 points in the 4th quarter and held Oakland-Craig scoreless.

Robby Mayberry had 109 yards rushing on 30 carries, including two touchdowns. Jefferson McNeill added 102 yards rushing on 9 attempts, including a score. Jared Mulder was 10-15 passing for 88 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Oakland-Craig had 332 yards of total offense, including 244 rushing.

Bergan had 242 yards of total offense, including 158 on the ground.

Big, clutch win for Oakland-Craig. They came up with a big win again.

Oakland-Craig (7-0) hosts Yutan (2-5) Friday night.

The Chieftains lost 24-8 at home to Tekamah-Herman and 54-21 at home to Bergan the week before.

Yutan's offense has really struggled this year.

I look for the Knights to turn in a strong offensive and defensive performance.

The Chieftains gave up 330 yards on the ground to Tekamah-Herman last week so Oakland-Craig has to be licking its chops.

That and you know the Knights will want to get revenge and payback after Yutan beat them in the first round of the playoffs last year.

I look for Mayberry, McNeill, and Mulder to have big games for Oakland-Craig.

These three really led Oakland-Craig last week, and made the biggest impact for the Knights I feel.

Oakland-Craig has to be all business and can't look forward to BRLD next week.

The Knights control their own destiny though, and a win over Yutan guarantees at least a share of the District Title.

I'm sure Oakland-Craig wants the whole ball of wax though.

An undefeated regular season and district title would be quite the feat for the Knights, but Oakland-Craig still has a lot of work left to do.

The Knights have to turn in a strong performance Friday night and get ready for the Wolverines next week.

Everything is big from here on out, and the bigger the stakes, the better Oakland-Craig normally performs.

The Knights could really improve their playoff seeding by winning these last two games.

Right now Oakland-Craig would be the 5 seed, but a couple of more wins could perhaps give them the 4 seed, and perhaps home games in the first two games of the playoffs.

A long ways to go before any of that potentially takes place though.

The thing the Knights need to do this week is focus on Yutan and focus on playing a great, clean game, and coming away with the win.
