GACC hammers Omaha Nation
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Football Team won 60-12 at Omaha Nation Friday night.
The Bluejays led 24-0 at the end of one, and outscored the Chiefs 22-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 46-6 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 52-12 at the end of three in favor of GACC.
The Bluejays shutout Omaha Nation 8-0 in the 4th quarter.
Jared Minnick had 106 yards rushing on 3 carries, all for touchdowns. Cody Steffen was 2-4 passing for 74 yards with a touchdown, which went to Jadyn Smeal for 65 yards, his only reception of the night.
Dylan Duhsmann had 11 tackles while Noah Hass and Damon Crawford notched 10 and 9, respectively.
GACC had 271 yards of total offense, including 197 rushing.
I'm sure the Bluejays could have been even more dominant in this game than they were, but no use in risking injury to starters.
GACC (5-0) hosts Wakefield (3-2) Friday night.
The Trojans won 72-30 at Homer last week.
Wakefield is a legit team, having handed Lutheran High Northeast their only loss of the season.
The Bluejays are going to have their hands full in this game there's no doubt about it.
I think this game will be a lot like the Wisner-Pilger game.
I feel GACC will find a way to win and prevail, but I fully expect the Trojans to play the Bluejays tough and give them a game.
GACC has to come out firing on all cylinders if they want to win.
Minnick and Steffen have to create some fireworks, and GACC has to play their best game of the season.
A win would all but wrap up the District Title for the Bluejays so this game is absolutely critical for GACC.
If Wakefield wins then it will create chaos within the District.
I'm sure that's something the Trojans would like to create though, and you can bet they will come to play and will play well given the fact if they lose this game the District Title is looking like a slim shot at best.
The Bluejays will get Wakefield's best shot, you can bet that, so GACC has to be ready to play a complete game.
If the Bluejays fall behind like they did against Wisner-Pilger they may not be able to rally like they did in that game.
So I guess what I'm saying is it's important for GACC to play ahead rather than from behind.
The Bluejays have to build a lead and force the Trojans to come back, something I don't think would be easy for Wakefield to do.
GACC has to get out to a lead and put all the pressure squarely on the Trojans.
If the Bluejays do that they should be in good shape and in the driver's seat to pick up a win and improve to 6-0 on the season.
