The North Bend Central Football Team lost their first game of the year Friday night, falling 47-14 at home to Centennial.

Centennial got out to a 21-0 lead before the Tigers cut it to 27-14. At that point, NBC had the ball inside the 5 but was intercepted on 4th down. The Broncos went down and scored, making it 33-14 at half.

The Broncos scored the final 14 points of the game in the 3rd quarter.

Centennial had 392 yards of total offense, 280 on the ground and the Tigers had 198 yards of offense -- passing for 131 and rushing for 67 yards. Statistically, John Emanuel caught 9 passes for 50 yards, Endorf was 15-28 for 131 yards 3 int, and Ethan Mullally rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Tigers were led by Emanuel with 11 tackles and Gavin Peterson with 9 tackles. Sam Buckingham added 9 while Jacob Ray notched 7.

Head Coach Ryan Stieren tips his hat to the Broncos. "Centennial is an outstanding team and you can't get down 21-0 and expect to be successful. We made things interesting in the 2nd quarter but we couldn't convert near the goal line, gave up a kick return for a TD and then couldn't get anything going in the 2nd half. Hopefully, we can bounce back and compete hard against Aquinas this Friday."

The Tigers (5-1) take on the Monarchs (3-3) in David City.

Aquinas won 46-7 at David City last week.

The Monarchs lost 28-21 at Centennial the week before so you know North Bend Central has another challenge on their hands.

Aquinas is fighting for their playoff lives and may very well have to win out to make it so you can bet the Tigers are going to get the Monarchs' best shot.

North Bend Central has to bounce back and forget about what happened last week.

The Tigers have to toughen and sharpen up, and get ready for a tough Aquinas team.

North Bend Central is a good team, quite a bit better than they have been in a long time, and I look for the Tigers to compete well and play hard Friday night.

North Bend Central has to go into Aquinas expecting to win, and has to forget about what happened last week.

The Tigers can't afford to be hung up about the loss to the Broncos, they have to move on and man up Friday night.

North Bend Central is still in very good position to make the playoffs and could help themselves out a lot with a pair of wins the next couple of weeks over the Monarchs and Shelby/Rising City.

These next two games figure to be very tough road tests for the Tigers, and I think we will really find out what North Bend Central is made of.

The Tigers have to run the ball this week to be successful.

North Bend Central didn't run the ball as well as they would of liked against Centennial, and I felt that was one of the differences in the game.

The Tigers need to be balanced offensively against the Monarchs to be able to win.

North Bend Central also has to stop Aquinas' run game as well.

The Tigers have to get physical and be ready to take the Monarchs' punches and best shot.

You know you're going to get a great effort from Aquinas so North Bend Central has to be up for the challenge.
