Pender outlasts Mead in Double Overtime

The Pender Football Team outlasted Mead 48-42 in Double Overtime on the road Friday night.

The game was tied at 6 at the end of one before the Raiders outscored the Pendragons 16-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-12 lead into the locker room.

Pender won the 3rd quarter 8-6 to make it a 28-20 game at the end of three.

The Pendragons outscored Mead 14-6 in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 34 and send it into OT.

Both teams scored 8 points in the first OT before Pender won the second OT 6-0.

Dylan Vogt had 178 yards rushing on 24 carries, including two touchdowns. Jaydon Jump had 16 carries for 140 yards and two scores. Sam Mailoux hauled in 4 passes for 58 yards, and scored twice.

Mailoux made 8 tackles while Jump and Jaxon Mrsny made 7 apiece.

The Pendragons had 409 yards of total offense, including 334 rushing. The defense gave up 161 yards of total offense, 132 coming on the ground.

Great win for Pender. The Pendragons hung in there Friday night and found a way to win. This team has really started to come alive and persevere.

Pender (3-3) hosts Emerson-Hubbard (4-2) Friday night.

The Pirates routed Omaha Christian Academy 60-8 on the road last week.

Emerson-Hubbard has won 3 in a row.

The Pirates beat Cedar Bluffs by less, but Mead by much more than the Pendragons did.

With that said, this game is in Pender and it's a rivalry game, and anything can happen.

The Pendragons have to get up for this one and step up big.

Pender's defense has to rise to the occasion like it did in the second half last week.

The Pendragons have a chance to put themselves in a position to earn a 3 way tie in the district if they win.

Both Clarkson/Leigh and Emerson-Hubbard are undefeated in District Play with Pender only having  one loss.

The Pendragons are right there, and if they can win out and get some help then they could find themselves co-district champs.

If Pender can at least win one of their next two games they should make the playoffs.

The Pendragons have come a long ways in their last couple of games, and should be proud of what they've done.

There's still work left to be done though, and Pender has to remain hungry.

The Pendragons need to go out there and play physical Friday night.

Getting the ball to Vogt, Jump, and Mailoux has to be the priority.

Pender did a great job of utilizing their weapons last week, and has to continue that this week.

The Pendragons are in great position to do something here at the end of the regular season, a continuation of what they've already doing really.

Pender has to stay humble, remain hungry, and eye that playoff berth.

Given the way this season started for the Pendragons it would be quite the accomplishment to get into the postseason.
