Stanton loses at Crofton
The Stanton Football Team lost 20-19 at Crofton Friday night.
The Mustangs led 7-0 after one before the Warriors won the 2nd quarter 7-6 to make it a 13-7 game at halftime in favor of Stanton.
After neither team scored in the 3rd quarter, Crofton outscored Stanton 13-6 in the 4th quarter to pick up the win.
Sutton Polhman had 159 yards rushing on 24 carries, and scored twice. Marcus Spotanski was 3-11 passing for 91 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Polhman hauled in all 3 passes for 91 yard with the touchdown.
Polhman made 10 tackles while Ben Wilke and Cade Goger made 9 and 8, respectively.
The Mustangs had 279 yards of total offense, including 177 rushing.
This had to be a very tough pill to swallow for Stanton. Heartbreaking and devastating loss without a doubt.
The Mustangs (2-4) host Ponca (1-5) Friday night.
The Indians lost 35-20 at Battle Creek last week.
Ponca may be 1-5, but don't let their record fool you.
Their losses are to BRLD, Oakland-Craig, David City Aquinas, Hartington Cedar Catholic, and the aforementioned Braves.
It's tough, but Stanton has to do their best to bounce back from last week's loss.
The sting and pain of that loss still might be felt by the Mustang players, but Stanton has to be tough and resilient and bounce back.
The Mustangs have to use the devastation and pain and frustration of that loss and turn it into success Friday night.
Polhman had a great game for Stanton, and if he can have a repeat performance then the Mustangs should have a shot.
Anybody can beat anybody in this district for the most part so Stanton has to come out and deliver big blows and a message to Ponca early and often.
The Mustangs have to be thinking if the Warriors can beat us then we can beat the Indians.
Ponca is a tough team, but Stanton is definitely capable of coming out on top.
It will still be tough to bounce back from last week's loss, but the Mustangs have to do their best to put last week behind them and move on.
Stanton has to play with and show some fight Friday night.
The Mustangs are a quality team, they just simply let one get away last week.
Stanton has to reverse their fortunes this week, and turn the tables on Ponca.
Anyone is beatable on any given night, and the Mustangs have to go out there and make it happen.
This very well could be Stanton's last realistic chance at one final home win with Norfolk Catholic coming in next week so it could be now or never from that aspect of things for the Mustangs.
Stanton is all but out of the District and Playoff race, but has to keep playing hard and for pride at this point.
