GACC smacks Homer

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Football Team won 64-8 at home over Homer Friday night.

Jared Minnick had 206 yards rushing on 14 carries, including three scores, while Cash Meier had 101 yards on 7 carries and three touchdowns. Cody Steffen had 8 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown while Nate Niewohner carried the ball 5 times for 57 yards. Steffen was 2-3 passing for 76 yards with a touchdown. Jaydn Smeal hauled in 2 passes for 76 yards and scored.

Damon Crawford made 12 tackles.

GACC had 511 yards of total offense, including 435 on the ground.

The defense held the Knights to 99 yards of total offense, 69 coming on the ground.

Great way for the Bluejays to respond following the loss to Wakefield last week.

GACC (6-1) wraps up the regular season at Winnebago (3-4) Friday night.

The Indians lost 74-14 at Wakefield last week.

The Bluejays should be able to win this one.

The game might be closer and more competitive than it has been in the past, but I still look for GACC to win big.

The Bluejays still have a shot at winning a District Championship, and have to come out and impress and leave no doubt Friday night.

The Trojans have gotten hot and shown they are a great team, but perhaps GACC will get some help from Wisner-Pilger.

All the Bluejays can do is go out and dominate and impress and put themselves in a good position to get a good playoff seed.

GACC has to keep letting the Wakefield loss fuel them and allow them to play better than they have all season.

The Bluejays figure to have something to say about things in the postseason, and I'm sure GACC would like to close out the regular season the right way.

The Bluejays have to go up there and take care of business.

The offense has to move the ball the way it's capable of and the defense has to be superb as well.

GACC has to block Prosper Gilpin, and has to try and slow down the likes of T.J. Frenchman, Tyrese Gorrin, and Robbie Lovejoy.

If the Bluejays can contain or handle those four then they should be in good shape.

GACC has to come out ready to go and smash from the get go.

The Bluejays have to build a big lead and never look back.

Minnick has to have a big game and Steffen has to step up in both the running and passing games like he did against Homer.

GACC has to get off to a strong start, and jump on Winnebago early, and never give the Indians a chance.

The last thing the Bluejays want is Winnebago hanging around and giving them a game.
