Oakland-Craig handles Aquinas

The Oakland-Craig Football Team beat David City Aquinas 28-12 at home Friday night.

Coulter Thiele had 201 yards rushing on 6 carries, and scored three times. Caden Nelson ran the ball 17 times for 82 yards while Grady Gatewood was 5-7 passing for 54 yards with a TD.

Mike Maline made 9 tackles while Nelson and Mike Brands notched 8 and 7, respectively.

The Knights had 388 yards of total offense, including 334 rushing.

Another outstanding performance from Oakland-Craig.

The Knights (5-0) take on Tekamah-Herman (1-4) on the road Friday night.

The Tigers fell 49-6 at Crofton Friday night.

Oakland-Craig beat the Warriors 30-13 on the road so the Knights should have no trouble in this one whatsoever.

Still though Oakland-Craig has to be ready to play as you know Tekamah-Herman will bring it and give things their best shot.

The Knights have to play the game as if they were playing Aquinas or Norfolk Catholic or some other traditional power.

It's a rivalry game, and anything can happen and teams can sneak up on you if you're not careful.

But this is a game that Oakland-Craig has to jump out to a big lead in and rest starters for Fremont Bergan and Hartington Cedar Catholic coming up the next two weeks.

The rest of the schedule sets up nicely for O-C in that they get Bergan and the Trojans at home, and go to Tekamah-Herman and David City.

Oakland-Craig just has to focus on taking care of business against the Tigers this week though.

The Knights have to come out sharp and on top of their game like they have for most of this season.

Tekamah-Herman drops contest at Crofton

The Tekamah-Herman Football Team lost 49-6 at Crofton Friday night.

The Warriors led 6-0 at the end of one and 28-0 at halftime.

Crofton shutout the Tigers 14-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 42-0 at the end of three.

The Warriors won the 4th quarter 7-6.

Brock Rogers was 3-14 for 91 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Jason Hoover made an 84-yard TD reception.

Cole Bottger and Garrison Potadle each had 11 tackles while Kaleb Quick had 10, and Logan Burt 7.

Tekamah-Herman had 114 yards of total offense, including 91 through the air.

Another loss to a tough opponent for the Tigers.

Tekamah-Herman (1-4) plays host to Oakland-Craig (5-0) Friday night.

The Knights toppled David City Aquinas 28-12 at home last week.

I don't know what the Tigers can do in this game to win it.

Oakland-Craig is simply an exceptional and amazing team and program.

Tekamah-Herman has to come into this game fearless and unafraid though.

The Tigers have to want to emulate what the Knights do and build their program like Oakland-Craig has.

The Knights continue to elevate their program, and it's a model that Tekamah-Herman has to follow too.

The Tigers have played such a tough schedule this year and haven't had much of a break.

The last three games, in particular, have been tough, and 3 out of the last four regular season games aren't any easier.

Perhaps Tekamah-Herman can beat David City at home the second to last week of the regular season.

This game with Oakland-Craig is a rivalry game though, and the Tigers have to go into it slugging and must be ready to play.

Tekamah-Herman has to give the Knights their best shot and everything they could ever want and handle and then some.

BRLD drops 3rd straight in loss to Hartington Cedar Catholic

The BRLD Football Team lost 50-8 at home to Hartington Cedar Catholic Friday night.

Tough loss for the Wolverines. I don't think having to miss the Yutan game cause of COVID-19 helped matters.

BRLD (1-3) travels to Ponca to battle the Indians (1-4) Friday night.

Ponca lost 38-20 at Norfolk Catholic last week.

Tekamah-Herman beat the Indians 7-6, and the Wolverines defeated the Tigers 44-24.

So based on that, BRLD should win.

Each game is different though.

Every game is different in terms of location and date and perhaps personnel.

Just because the Wolverines beat Tekamah-Herman and Ponca didn't doesn't guarantee a BRLD win over the Indians.

The Wolverines have struggled and are reeling.

BRLD needs something good to happen to gain some confidence and momentum.

The Wolverines have played a gauntlet of a schedule so far this season, but BRLD needs better offensive production.

The Wolverines have really struggled on that side of the ball, and on the defensive side of the ball for that matter as well.

BRLD has to find a way to perform at a higher level on both sides of the ball.

If the Wolverines can elevate their game on both sides of the ball they figure to have a good shot of winning this one.

West Point-Beemer runs away from Columbus Scotus

The West Point-Beemer Football team made a statement Friday night, running away with a big 53-27 home win over Columbus Scotus.

The Cadets led 13-6 at the end of one, and outscored the Shamrocks 19-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-13 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 14-8 to go up 46-21 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 7-6.

What a great statement and program defining win for West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets (3-2) battle Columbus Lakeview (1-4) on the road Friday night.

The Vikings lost 57-8 at home to Central City last week.

Columbus Lakeview is a very tough team who had been playing great Football up until last week.

If the Vikings play the way they did last week then West Point-Beemer should win in a landslide.

But if the game is like Lakeview's first four games then things could be interesting.

If the Cadets play the way they did last week then they should be able to win this one regardless of how the Vikings perform.

West Point-Beemer doesn't want to have a letdown though.

That's the last thing the Cadets can afford to have.

West Point-Beemer has to come out and play with the same chip on their shoulder that they did against Scotus.

The Cadets' next three games are very tough with Pierce on the road next week and North Bend Central at home the following week.

West Point-Beemer made a statement and got on the right track last week, and I think that has set the tone and stage for these next three ball games.

These next three games figure to make or break the Cadets.

This is what you play for as a competitor so West Point-Beemer has to go out there and play lights out and magnificent football like they did last week.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outlasts Arlington

Long, sustained drives were a key factor in Logan View/Scribner-Snyder’s 21-13 road win at Arlington on Friday night, Sept. 25, in high school football aired on 107.9 The Bull.

After forcing a punt, the Raiders started their first possession with the ball on their own 20, and marched 80 yards, ending the drive with a three-yard touchdown run by Logan Booth. The PAT made it 7-0 Raiders with 1:46 left in the first quarter.

Neither team scored again until two seconds left before halftime, as Arlington utilized a kick catch interference penalty, setting them up with the ball at the LVSS 21 with 27 seconds left in the half. The Eagles scored on a six-yard run by Josh Miller with two seconds left to tie the game 7-7 heading into the intermission.

The Raiders started the third quarter with the ball at their own 33. They went the 67 yards in just over six minutes, finishing with a six-yard scoring run by Riley Hoetfelker. The PAT made it 14-7 Raiders with 5:46 in the third.

The Eagles answered with a six plus minute drive of their own, and scored on a 12-yard pass from Miller to Logan Kaup. The PAT missed and LVSS led 14-13 with 11:12 to go in the game.

LVSS took over at their own 36, ate up almost 8:30 minutes of clock, scoring with 2:34 left to play on an 11-yard bootleg run by Hoetfelker. The PAT put the Raiders up 21-13.

After the kickoff, Arlington had the ball on their own 30. The game came down to a fourth-and-fifteen play for the Eagles. Miller connected on a pass to Nick Smith, but the LVSS defense tackled him one yard short of the first down, forcing the turnover on downs and essentially sealing the 21-13 win for the Raiders.

A good win over an Eagles team that was better than their record would indicate.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is now 4-1 and will host Boys Town (1-4) this coming Friday.

The Cowboys picked up their first win of the season last week over Fort Calhoun, 33-23.

Boys Town fell 25-0 to Wahoo and 42-29 to North Bend Central.

So I would say the Cowboys are a tougher team than their record indicates.

I would say this is the Raiders' toughest regular season game outside of Wayne.

If LVSS wins this one they should win out.

I think the Raiders will get the job done too.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is at home, and has been playing good football as of late.

I think things will be tight, a lot like they were last week, but I'm going to say the Raiders pull things out by single digits.

I've been impressed with LVSS so far this year, and the Raiders have a great senior class, and I think they will find a way to get the job done Friday night.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder blows out Schuyler

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Football Team routed Schuyler 49-6 on the road Friday night.

The Raiders led 21-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 42-0 at halftime.

LVSS put up another touchdown in the 3rd quarter to go up 49-0 at the end of three.

The Warriors' lone points in the game came in the form of a touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Dominant win for the Raiders, much like I anticipated and expected.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (3-1) travels to Arlington to take on the Eagles (0-4) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Eagles lost 56-13 at home to Pierce last week.

Arlington has lost to some really good teams so their record is deceiving.

The Eagles are at home too and will be tough no doubt.

Add in that this is kind of a bit of a rivalry and you have a dogfight on your hands.

I fully expect Arlington to play and compete well Friday night.

The Eagles have a new Head Coach in Colter Mattson so Arlington is still adjusting and adapting to the retirement of Coach Gubbels.

I think LVSS will win, but I think the Raiders will have to earn things.

I don't expect the Eagles to make things easy on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder whatsoever.

But in the end, if you win, that's all that matters.

I'm sure the Raiders would like to win in impressive fashion though, and I think they have an opportunity and the potential to do just that.

I also feel this game could be close and tight though.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with pregame at 6:30 on the Bull.

Emerson-Hubbard loses at Walthill

The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team lost 50-32 at Walthill on Friday.

The Pirates gave up 429 yards of total offense, including 296 on the ground.

Tough loss for Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates (1-3) travel to Winside on Friday to take on the Wildcats (2-2).

Winside lost 50-28 at home to Osmond last week.

The Wildcats defeated the Blujays 63-30 in the first week of the season.

So Emerson-Hubbard definitely has an uphill battle on their hands Friday night, but the Pirates can definitely win and be successful.

Emerson-Hubbard just has to turn things around from last week and get things headed in the right direction.

The Pirates have to be more sound defensively, and the offense has to put up some big and impressive numbers as well.

I feel like Emerson-Hubbard will be able to put up some points up on Winside, but slowing down Gabe Escalante and others figures to be a challenge for sure.

So I'm thinking the Wildcats may put up quite a few points on the Pirates, but we will see.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play a great game and put forth a great effort Friday night.

If the Pirates play well they should have a shot in the end.

It will be interesting though as Winside is a much improved and tough team.

Pender falls at Bloomfield

The Pender Football Team came up short at Bloomfield Friday night, losing 28-24.

The Pendragons led 21-14 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Bees shutout Pender 8-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-21 lead into the locker room.

Bloomfield doubled up the Pendragons 6-3 in the 3rd quarter to make up the final score as no one scored in the 4th quarter.

Quinton Heineman made 3 catches for 89 yards, and scored twice.

Jacob Bruns made 14 tackles while Dylan Vogt had 10. Evan English made 7.

The defense gave up 317 yards of total offense, including 306 on the ground.

Tough loss for Pender as I really thought the Pendragons were going to win this one.

Pender (2-2) plays host to Allen (3-0) Friday night.

The Eagles beat Homer 50-13 at home last week.

Allen also beat the Bees 34-16 on the road the week before.

So the Pendragons can definitely win this one, but I feel it's going to be tougher now than if Pender was coming off of a win.

The Eagles are a very good and tough team, and will be difficult to beat.

Being 3-1 would of given the Pendragons a little more confidence coming into this one than  coming i at 2-2, in my opinion.

Pender has to put the Bloomfield loss behind them though and regroup.

The Pendragons should win their final three regular season games regardless of what happens Friday night, but this would be the biggest win of the season for Pender by far.

The Pendragons are at home too, so Pender has to be optimistic about their abilities and that they can win.

The Pendragons have to believe it can and make it go happen.

Howells-Dodge defeats Wisner-Pilger

The Howells-Dodge Football Team won 40-22 at Wisner-Pilger Friday night.

Here is a scoring recap and game summary from the game:

Jestin Bayer had 13 tackles while Dominguez made 10. Belina and Blake Sindelar racked up 9 apiece.

Howells-Dodge had 338 yards of total offense, all coming on the ground.

Head Coach Mike Speirs on the win. "The team played good tonight, its always fun to get some scores on defense as well, which really helped us tonight."

Howells-Dodge (3-1) plays host to Madison (0-4) Friday night.

The Dragons lost 38-16 at home to GACC last week.

This should be a big and dominating win for the Jaguars.

This is one of those games where you want to build a big lead and be able to rest starters for games at Stanton and GACC the next two weeks, and the regular season finale with Clarkson/Leigh on October 16th.

This is a good week for Howells-Dodge to get healthy and rest up and prepare for the stretch run.

I really feel like the Jaguars have a chance to win the rest of their games in the regular season if they perform up to their full potential.

Belina had a marvelous game last week, and I look for that to only continue down the stretch.

This is when things start to really count, and Howells-Dodge has to take care of business Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger loses to Howells-Dodge

The Wisner-Pilger Football Team lost 40-22 at home to Howells-Dodge Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger 00:18 #15 Hunter Palmer runs for 68 yards. Touchdown! (Two point conversion run is no good.)

Wisner-Pilger gave up 338 yards of total offense, all on the ground.

I thought the Gators played well despite the loss.

Unfortunately, the Coronavirus Pandemic has hit Wisner-Pilger so the Gators' games against Stanton and GACC the next two weeks have been cancelled.

Stanton downs Clarkson/Leigh

The Stanton Football Team won 42-20 at home over Clarkson/Leigh Friday night.

The Patriots led 8-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 8-6 at halftime.

Stanton woke up in the 2nd half, putting up 14 3rd quarter points to build a 20-8 advantage at the end of three, and then outscored Clarkson/Leigh 22-12 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.

Sutton Pohlman had 235 yards rushing on 22 carries, and scored four times. Gage Tighe added 64 yards on the ground on 14 carries, and scored once.

Pohlman made 17 tackles while Tighe had 12. Kamden Dusatko racked up 8.

Stanton racked up 354 yards of total offense, including 316 on the ground.

The defense gave up 222 yards of total offense, including 193 rushing.

It was the Sutton Pohlman and Gage Tighe show Friday night. Those two really led the Mustangs.

Unfortunately, Stanton's game at Wisner-Pilger scheduled for this Friday has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic affecting the Gators. The Mustangs were unable to find a replacement game.

Stanton enters next Friday's home game against Howells-Dodge with a 3-1 record.

Clarkson/Leigh falls to Stanton

The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team lost 42-20 at Stanton Friday night.

Lance Paprocki had 122 yards rushing on 22 carries, and scored twice.

Cooper Vance made 8 tackles while Kanyon Held, Mitchel Beeson, and Dylan Higby each had 7.

The Patriots had 222 yards of total offense, including 193 on the ground.

The Mustangs racked up 354 yards of total offense, including 316 on the ground.

Clarkson/Leigh struggled on both sides of the ball Friday night. Credit Stanton though, the Mustangs had a game plan and executed it very well.

The Patriots (2-2) host GACC (2-2) Friday night.

The Bluejays won 38-16 at Madison last week.

GACC isn't the type of team they've been in the past so that is welcoming news for Clarkson/Leigh.

The downside is the Patriots have been hit hard by the injury bug.

I think that kind of evens out the playing field a little bit.

I think these two teams are probably fairly equal now that Clarkson/Leigh has some injuries.

The Patriots have to be solid on defense, and Paprocki has to have a huge game for Clarkson/Leigh.

He has to single handily carry the Patriots offensively.

A lot is riding on Paprocki's shoulders, and he has to step up and play a great game once again Friday night.

GACC tops Madison

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Football Team beat Madison 38-16 on the road Friday night.

Not the Bluejays' usual dominance of the Dragons, but still a win nonetheless.

GACC (2-2) travels to Clarkson/Leigh (2-2) Friday night.

The Patriots lost 42-20 at Stanton last week.

A lot was expected of Clarkson/Leigh this season, and still is, but the Patriots have been hit hard by the injury bug.

I think the Bluejays have a legit shot to win this one.

At the beginning of the year I would have probably given the advantage to Clarkson/Leigh, and the Patriots could still win being at home and everything, but I feel like GACC has a better shot to win now than they did at the beginning of the season.

The Bluejays need to play at a higher level than they did against Madison though.

GACC has to come out and play well and step up their game.

The Bluejays have to perform well for four quarters, and play a great and complete 48-minute game.

If GACC gets four good quarters out of their guys it may be enough to win the game.

The Bluejays have to watch out for and have to try and slow down Lance Paprocki.

He is the key to Clarkson/Leigh's offense, and if GACC can limit him like Stanton did then they figure to be in a good position to win the game.

Oakland-Craig blanks Logan-Magnolia (IA)

The Oakland-Craig Football Team shutout Logan-Magnolia (IA) 38-0 at home Friday night.

The Knights scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter and led 16-0 at halftime.

Oakland-Craig struck again in the 3rd quarter to go up 24-0 at the end of three.

The Knights scored two more times in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.

Jaron Meyer had 142 yards rushing on 16 carries, and scored twice. Caden Nelson had 7 carries for 56 yards, and scored once. Grady Gatewood was 7-11 passing for 78 yards.

Mike Brands made 11 tackles while Nelson had 9.

Oakland-Craig amassed 359 yards of total offense, including 281 on the ground.

Great team win for the Knights over a very good opponent.

Oakland-Craig (4-0) plays host to David City Aquinas (4-0) Friday night.

The Monarchs won 22-14 at home over Crofton last week.

The Knights beat the Warriors by a larger margin though and are at home.

Still though Aquinas provides a very tough and stingy challenge, perhaps Oakland-Craig's biggest of the season so far.

The Knights must bring it against the Monarchs.

Oakland-Craig has to play the way they did against the Panthers last week.

If the Knights are on top of their game I think they definitely win.

Oakland-Craig has to be focused and locked in and in tune to what is going on.

The Knights have to get jacked and fired and psyched up in this one and must get ready to hit hard and play a smashmouth, hard hitting, physical football game.

Oakland-Craig has to bring the lunch pail to the game and be ready to go hard for 4 quarters.

The Knights have to play a complete game from start to finish like they have most of the season.

If Oakland-Craig does that and plays their game then they should be just fine.

Tekamah-Herman falls to Bishop Neumann

The Tekamah-Herman Football Team fell 42-6 at home to Bishop Neumann Friday night.

The Cavaliers led 7-0 at the end of one and 21-0 at halftime. Neumann equaled their first half scoring total in the 3rd quarter, putting up 21 more points to go up 42-0 at the end of three. The Tigers' lone score of the game came in the 3rd quarter.

Garrison Potadle made 11 tackles while Kody Bitter had 9.

Tekamah-Herman had 130 yards of total offense, including 106 on the ground. The defense gave up 320 yards of total offense, including 193 rushing.

Another loss to a very good team for the Tigers.

Tekamah-Herman (1-3) takes on Crofton (1-2) on the road Friday night.

The Warriors fell 22-14 at David City Aquinas last week.

Crofton may be 1-2, but they're comparable to Neumann, in my opinion.

The Tigers are going to need to play a great game Friday night in order to win, but they can definitely do it.

Tekamah-Herman has to go out there and compete at a high level and play well Friday night.

I feel like the Tigers' schedule has been tough and hasn't done them any favors.

Tekamah-Herman has struggled on both sides of the ball for the most part, but could definitely get things going before season's end.

The Tigers just have to find a way to get things going offensively and defensively against Crofton Friday night.

Tall and tough task ahead for Tekamah-Herman, but I feel the Tigers are up to it and have what it takes to compete and do well Friday night.

North Bend Central upends Boys Town

The following is from North Bend Central Head Coach Ryan Stieren:

We defeated Boys Town 42-29 Friday night. We scored on 4 of our first 6 possessions including a 74-yard TD pass from Brodey Johnson to Kaden Juhl right before halftime. Brodey Johnson completed his first 16 passes in a row during the first half.

In the second half, we kept control of the game and were able to hang on after they completed a long pass to get within 2 scores.

Offensively, Brodey Johnson was 29-37 for 359 yards and 3 TDs. Kaden Juhl and Austin Taylor each had 10 catches and a TD. Ethan Mullally ran 28 times for 122 yards and 3 TDs. Defensively, we were led by Austin Taylor who had 7 tackles (2 TFL) and an interception.

The Tigers gained 479 yards of total offense, and had 359 through the air.

"Offensively we were clicking and really did whatever we wanted which is outstanding because Boys Town really did a nice job of slowing down Wahoo the week before. Defensively, we really missed Breckin Peters (Quarantined) but having said that, we can all agree that we played really poor on that side of the ball and that must improve as we move on down the line." Stieren said.

This week's game against Schuyler has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

West Point-Beemer clobbers O'Neill on the road

O’NEILL – West Point-Beemer ran the option offense to near perfection on their way to a 53-14 road win at O’Neill on Friday, Sept. 18 in a game aired on 107.9 The Bull.

The Cadets got out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to an eight-yard by QB Jesus Barragan and a 22-yard run by Edgar Rodriguez.

West Point-Beemer then scored three times in the second quarter, a seven-yard run by Alejandro Edeza, a four-yard run by Treven Weddle and a 20-yard pass from Barragan to Drake Repschlaeger.

The Cadets led 33-0 at halftime.

West Point-Beemer started the second half with the ball and reached pay dirt once again when Rodriguez raced in from 75 yards, making the score 39-0.

It didn’t take long from West Point-Beemer to add another score, doing so on their next possession, a 37-yard run from backup QB Riley Penrose, making it 46-0.

The Eagles finally got on the scoreboard with 23 seconds left in the third quarter, and the Cadets led 46-6 after three.

West Point-Beemer added a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 47-yard dash from Keaton Persson, and O’Neill scored once more, adding a two-point conversion, making the score WP-B 53, O’Neill 14.

West Point-Beemer took the ball to the Eagle 35-yard line before being turned away on fourth down. The Eagles then threw an interception to end the game, preserving the final of 53-14.

West Point-Beemer improves to 2-2 on the season and will host Columbus Scotus (1-3) Friday night.

The Shamrocks lost 27-26 at home to Battle Creek last week.

Scotus may be 1-3, but they have played an extremely tough schedule with other losses coming to Aquinas and Wahoo.

Still though I think the Cadets have an opportunity to do well in and win this one.

West Point-Beemer may end up losing a close game, but I think the game will be closer and more competitive than last year's contest.

I feel like Scotus was stronger last year and the Cadets were younger and more inexperienced last season.

So I feel like the gap has kind of merged more so to speak, but the Shamrocks are still a very good and tough team.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

West Point-Beemer's two losses are to Wayne and Battle Creek so the Cadets have played top notch competition too.

If West Point-Beemer plays well Friday night they should have a chance to win it.

West Point-Beemer falls at Battle Creek

The West Point-Beemer Football Team lost 28-15 at Battle Creek Friday night.

The Cadets led 8-7 at the end of one before the Braves scored two touchdowns in the 2nd quarter to go up 21-8 at halftime.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the 4th quarter.

The Braves had 233 yards of total offense, including 182 on the ground.

Close loss to a good team for West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets (1-2) travel to O'Neill to take on the Eagles (1-2) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Eagles lost 53-18 at Central City last week.

The Bison lost 58-50 to Battle Creek so based on that score you would think West Point-Beemer has a pretty good chance to win.

O'Neill only lost by 3 in the opener to Hartington Cedar Catholic though so the Cadets definitely have a battle on their hands.

West Point-Beemer is definitely capable of going in there and picking up a win though.

It's a lengthy road trip, but the ride home will be a lot more jolly if the Cadets win.

West Point-Beemer has to draw first blood, build a lead, and force the Eagles to play from behind.

The Cadets have to be stout defensively, and shutdown O'Neill's offensive attack.

It has to be an all around great team performance from West Point-Beemer Friday night.

If the Cadets get the kind of effort they hope and expect then there's no reason to think they won't and can't win.

Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. on the Bull with pregame starting at 6:00.

North Bend Central falls at Pierce

The following is from Head Coach Ryan Stieren:

We fell 48-13 to Pierce on Friday night. We came out with a lot of fire and scored the first points of the game on a 3-yard pass from Brodey Johnson to Allan Orellana. They scored 28 unanswered points to take a 28-6 lead into halftime. Right after half, we tried on onside kick to swing momentum into our favor, instead their frontline guy caught the ball off of a hop and returned it for a touchdown. We scored late in the 3rd quarter on a 39-yard pass from Brodey Johnson to Colin Rhynalds.

Johnson was 16-27 for 115 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while Ethan Mullaly ran the ball 17 times and gained 78 yards. Rhynalds had 52 yards receiving on two catches, including a score.

Ian Virka made 10 tackles.

The Tigers had 229 yards of total offense, including 161 through the air. The Bluejays racked up 461 yards of total offense, including 415 on the ground.

"Pierce is at a whole new level from what we have seen. I would imagine they will be a strong contender to win the whole thing. Having said that, I was proud of how our came out and went after them right away. It definitely was a competitive game but it was one where the bigger, stronger, and faster team took control of the game. We have a lot that we can accomplish moving forward -- we must continue to prepare well and compete hard."

North Bend Central (2-1) plays host to Boys Town (0-3) Friday night.

The Cowboys lost 25-0 at home to Wahoo last week.

Boys Town has been improving each and every week, and are still Boys Town despite their 0-3 record.

The Cowboys always have good teams, and are always tough to play no matter what.

The Tigers have their work cut out for them once again this week.

North Bend Central has to be physical with Boys Town, and take what they learned from the Pierce game and apply it to this one.

The Tigers can definitely do it and get the job done too, and NBC really needs this one after losing to Pierce.

The Tigers have some difficult games coming up at the end of the regular season so it's imperative that North Bend Central performs well in and wins this one.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder shuts out BRLD

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Football Team shutout BRLD 35-0 at home Friday night.

Great win for the Raiders.

LVSS (2-1) squares off with Schuyler (1-3) on the road Friday night.

The Warriors lost 50-7 at Raymond Central last week.

This should be another big win for the Raiders.

Schuyler is a Class B School that opted down to C-1 to try and build up their program.

The Warriors are coached by former Husker Jason Ankrah, and you know Schuyler will put forth a great and fantastic effort Friday night.

It shouldn't be enough to beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder though.

The Raiders are having a special season, and have something really special going on and happening this year.

LVSS has to keep things up and keep the ball rolling on Friday.

The Raiders have to hit hard and force turnovers and put all the pressure on Schuyler.

BRLD blanked at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder

The BRLD Football Team fell 35-0 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Friday night.

Tough loss for the Wolverines no doubt.

BRLD's game this week against Yutan has been cancelled.

This is from the Lyons-Decatur Facebook page.

"BRLD Fans:

Due to COVID and other player health issues, the BRLD football game vs Yutan has been canceled. Football games right now will resume on Monday night with JH vs Oakland-Craig and JV vs North Bend Central in Lyons. Practices will be held the remainder of this week.

Tekamah-Herman falters at Hartington Cedar Catholic

The Tekamah-Herman Football Team lost 50-15 at Hartington Cedar Catholic Friday night.

The Trojans led 21-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, and 28-0 at halftime.

Cedar Catholic blanked the Tigers 14-0 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 42-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 15-8.

Brock Rogers was 5-21 passing for 104 yards and two interceptions while Kody Bitter carried the ball 17 times for 85 yards. Connor Feiling caught 2 touchdown passes totaling 82 yards.

Garrison Potadle made 14 tackles while Bitter made 13. Feiling recorded 8 while Kaleb Quick notched 7.

The Tigers had 182 yards of total offense, 104 coming through the air.

I was proud of the way Tekamah-Herman continued to fight until the very end of the game.

The Tigers (1-2) host Bishop Neumann (2-1) Friday night.

The Cavaliers won 34-18 at Doniphan-Trumbull last week.

Bishop Neumann is a perennial power and is always tough, much like Cedar Catholic.

Tekamah-Herman has to go into this game expecting to win and compete though.

The Tigers can't think "oh we're going to lose" just because it's Neumann.

Tekamah-Herman has to try and continue to change the culture of their program and turn themselves into what the Cavaliers have.

The Tigers have to go out there and hit hard and have fun while doing it.

Tekamah-Herman has to continue to fight and battle hard until the very end, much like they have done this entire season.

I look for the Tigers to go out there and put forth another great effort Friday night.

Tekamah-Herman has to go out there and give it their all and play and fight with the heart of a champion.

Oakland-Craig overcomes slow start to defeat Crofton

It took Oakland-Craig a while to get going at Crofton Friday night, but the Knights wound up winning 30-13.

The Warriors went up 7-0 at the end of one before the Knights put up 14 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig shutout Crofton 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 22-7 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Jaron Meyer had 87 yards on 12 carries, including a score, while Coulter Thiele had 2 carries for 77 yards. Grady Gatewood was 6-11 passing for 71 yards and a score.

Caden Nelson racked up 17 tackles while Mike Brands made 16. Trey Deemer and Gunnar Ray added 9 apiece while Mike Maline totaled 7.

Oakland-Craig racked up 275 yards of total offense, including 204 on the ground.

Kind of a scary game at the start for the Knights, but Oakland-Craig came together and pulled through and won, and that's all that matters.

Oakland-Craig's game against Norfolk Catholic scheduled for Friday has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

O-C will instead host the Logan-Magnolia (IA) Panthers.

Logan-Magnolia is undefeated, just like the Knights, so Oakland-Craig has to bring it for four quarters.

Stanton drops road contest at Wakefield

The Stanton Football Team lost 50-14 at Wakefield on Friday.

Gage Tighe had 66 yards rushing on 9 carries.

Tighe and Sutton Pohlman each had 10 tackles while Mason Bruggeman totaled 7.

The Mustangs registered 197 yards of total offense, including 189 on the ground.

Good effort from Stanton, but not the result the Mustangs were hoping for.

Stanton (2-1) plays host to Clarkson/Leigh (2-1) Friday night.

The Patriots dominated East Butler 58-16 at home last week.

I look for the Mustangs to go out there and play a good game come Friday night.

I think Stanton will battle and fight very hard against Clarkson/Leigh.

The big things will be getting the run game going with Tighe and Pollman, and slowing down Patriots QB Lance Paprocki.

Those things are the keys to the game in my mind.

The Mustangs have to read their keys and tackle and wrap up well on defense and try and keep everything in front of them.

Stanton has to limit big plays and try and move the ball on offense and keep Clarkson/Leigh's defense on the field and offense off the field.

If the Mustangs can dictate things in this game they may have a shot to win it.

This is a bit of a rivalry you could say so anything can certainly happen.

Clarkson/Leigh hammers East Butler

The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team whooped East Butler at home Friday night, winning 58-16.

The Patriots led 38-0 at the end of one and 52-0 at halftime.

The Tigers shutout Clarkson/Leigh 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 52-8 game at the end of three.

East Butler won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Great win for the Patriots no doubt about that.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-1) battles Stanton (2-1) on the road Friday night.

The Mustangs lost 50-14 at Wakefield this past Friday.

The Trojans are a very good team, but so are the Patriots.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to play extremely hard in this game, and come up with a win.

This is a bit of a rivalry you could say, and you can bet the Mustangs will play extremely hard and well Friday night, especially being at home and everything.

The Patriots have to be ready to go from the start, and have to jump out to a big lead on Stanton and force the Mustangs to play from behind.

If Clarkson/Leigh forces Stanton to play from behind then it will definitely be to their benefit no doubt.

Howells-Dodge blanked by Cross County

The Howells-Dodge Football Team lost 28-0 at Cross County Friday night.

The Cougars led 12-0 at halftime, scoring all their first half points in the 2nd quarter, before putting up 16 more 3rd quarter points to make up the final score.

Levi Belina had 29 carries for 96 yards rushing while Jacob Tomcak was 9-15 for 102 yards passing and a touchdown.

Blake Sindelar caught 7 passes for 91 yards.

Tomcak had 11 tackles while Aiden Meyer made 8. Belina and Blake Sindelar each had 8 while Aandy Dominguez totaled 7.

The Jaguars had 191 yards of total offense, 102 coming through the air.

Head Coach Mike Speirs on the loss. "We lost to a really good team tonight, but you could see our guys learning and growing as the game went on, now we just have to make sure we build on this and fix some of the little things."

Howells-Dodge (2-1) travels to Wisner Friday night to take on Wisner-Pilger (0-3).

The Gators lost 50-44 at Elkhorn Valley Thursday night.

I'm expecting a very hard hitting and physical football game come Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger will no doubt be fired up and ready to go.

The Jaguars have to be ready to play and put last week's loss behind them.

I feel like Howells-Dodge will do just that too.

The Jaguars are so well coached and disciplined, and are always ready to play.

Howells-Dodge ran into an extremely good team last week, and I fully expect the Jaguars to go out there and play the way they did two weeks ago.

The Jaguars should win, but will likely get Wisner-Pilger's best shot.
