The West Point-Beemer Football team made a statement Friday night, running away with a big 53-27 home win over Columbus Scotus.
The Cadets led 13-6 at the end of one, and outscored the Shamrocks 19-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-13 lead into the locker room.
West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 14-8 to go up 46-21 at the end of three.
The Cadets won the 4th quarter 7-6.
What a great statement and program defining win for West Point-Beemer.
The Cadets (3-2) battle Columbus Lakeview (1-4) on the road Friday night.
The Vikings lost 57-8 at home to Central City last week.
Columbus Lakeview is a very tough team who had been playing great Football up until last week.
If the Vikings play the way they did last week then West Point-Beemer should win in a landslide.
But if the game is like Lakeview's first four games then things could be interesting.
If the Cadets play the way they did last week then they should be able to win this one regardless of how the Vikings perform.
West Point-Beemer doesn't want to have a letdown though.
That's the last thing the Cadets can afford to have.
West Point-Beemer has to come out and play with the same chip on their shoulder that they did against Scotus.
The Cadets' next three games are very tough with Pierce on the road next week and North Bend Central at home the following week.
West Point-Beemer made a statement and got on the right track last week, and I think that has set the tone and stage for these next three ball games.
These next three games figure to make or break the Cadets.
This is what you play for as a competitor so West Point-Beemer has to go out there and play lights out and magnificent football like they did last week.
