The Stanton Football Team routed Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 46-16 at home Friday night.
The game was tied at 8 at the end of one before the Bears won the 2nd quarter 8-6 to take a 16-14 lead into the locker room.
The Mustangs exploded in the 3rd quarter, shutting out Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 20-0 to go up 34-16 at the end of three.
Stanton added 12 more points in the 4th quarter, and held the Bears scoreless to secure the win.
Sutton Pohlman had 181 yards rushing on 16 carries, including two scores. Gage Tighe added 102 yards rushing on 6 carries, including a score. Parker Krusemark had 7 carries for 97 yards, and scored three times.
Pohlman made 14 tackles while Krusemark, Mason Bruggeman, and Kamden Dusatko each had 9. Tighe added 8.
The Mustangs amassed 452 yards of total offense, all on the ground.
I think Stanton simply wore down Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in the 2nd half.
The Mustangs (2-0) battle Wakefield (2-0) on the road Friday.
The Trojans won 56-20 at Wisner-Pilger last week.
This will be a really good test for Stanton.
We will see just how good the Mustangs are, and where they measure and stack up.
I think Stanton is going to need to run the ball well and be physical just like they did and were against the Bears.
I think the Trojans' D-line will definitely test the Mustangs, and Stanton's defense will be challenged by a potent Wakefield run game.
This is by far going to be Stanton's biggest test of the season so far.
This game is on the road too, and doesn't figure to be easy whatsoever.
The next two weeks are really difficult for the Mustangs, and will definitely give Stanton and idea of where they stack up and measure against the best of the best.
The Mustangs get Clarkson/Leigh at home next week so Stanton has to be on their game this week and next just like they have been so far this season.
The Mustangs should only be concerned with the Trojans right now though.
The goal and focus right now has to be to go up to Wakefield and come away with a win.
